B-Pillar Trim Panel - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Open both LH doors.
  2. Remove the LH lower B-pillar cover using Assembly Wedge Part L.
  3. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the B-pillar trim panel to the body.
  4. Release the B-pillar seals from the B-pillar trim panel.
  5. Pry the LH B-pillar trim panel away from the body starting at the bottom using Assembly Wedge Part G and L.

    Note
    The B-pillar trim panel is attached to the body with two strips of double-sided tape.
  6. Pull down to release the LH B-pillar trim panel from the upper clips.
  7. If the vehicle is equipped with a camera, hold the LH B-pillar trim panel away from the body, and then disconnect the camera electrical connector.

    CAUTION
    The camera harness does not have much slack.
  8. Remove the LH B-pillar trim panel from the vehicle.

Installation

  1. Remove any remaining adhesive, and then clean the LH B-pillar area with an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipe and allow the surface to dry.
  2. Remove the lower cover from the new B-pillar trim panel.
  3. Peel the backing from the double-sided tape on the new LH B-pillar trim panel.
  4. If the vehicle is equipped with a camera, connect the camera electrical connector.
  5. Slide the B-pillar trim panel up into the clips, and then press the B-pillar trim panel into the B-pillar to secure double-sided tape.
  6. Install the screws (x2) that attach the B-pillar trim panel to the body (torque 4 Nm).
  7. Attach the LH B-pillar seals to the LH B-pillar trim panel.

    Use P-80 emulsifier to assist with the seal installation.
  8. Reinstall the lower cover over the bottom of the LH B-pillar trim panel.

    Make sure that all clips are fully seated.
  9. Close both LH doors.
  10. If the vehicle is equipped with a camera:

    For HW3 vehicles on firmware versions earlier than 2024.2, use Toolbox 3 to clear the camera calibration. In Toolbox 3, go to Dashboards > DAS Tools > DAS Clear Calibration > Clear Calibration Pillars.
    1. Enable Service Mode through the touchscreen. See Service Mode
    2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock
    3. Touch Driver Assist (Steering wheel icon) and then touch Cameras.
    4. Touch Clear Camera Calibration, select B-Pillar, and then touch Run.
    5. Touch Close when the routine has passed.
    6. Touch Camera Preview, and then touch Left Door Pillar or Right Door Pillar.
    7. Verify that the newly installed camera is able to capture the image by looking at the view for the respective camera (Left or Right door pillar).
    8. Inform the customer that manual driving is required to allow the camera to self-calibrate.

      Note
      Self-calibration can take up to 100 miles (160 km) of manual driving, depending upon the road type and condition. Until self-calibration is complete, the message "Autopilot Features Currently Unavailable: Manual Driving Required While Camera Is Calibrating" is displayed if an attempt is made to engage an Autopilot feature.
