Motor Block - Panoramic Roof - 2nd Generation - Both (Remove and Replace)
Correction code 24107502
Removal
- Open both front doors and lower the windows.
- Fully open the panoramic roof.
- Move both front seats backward.
- Open the liftgate.
- Open the glove box.
- Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
- Remove the LH instrumend panel end cap. See Assembly - Instrument Panel Side Cover - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH lower dash trim. See Trim - Dash - Driver's Side - Lower (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH console closeout extension. See Assembly - Closeout Extension - LH - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH footwell cover. See Assembly - Cover - Footwell - Driver's (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH middle A-pillar trim. See Panel - A Pillar Trim - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim.
- Disconnect the premium amplifier, if equipped.

Remove the screws (x2) that attach the
OBD II connector to the tuner bracket.
-
Disconnect the tuner connectors (x3),
release the edge clip, and then move the harness away for clearance.
-
Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the
tuner bracket to the instrument panel.
NoteTwo bolts are accessible from the bottom, one is accessible from the front.
-
Remove the amplifier/tuner bracket
assembly through the bottom of the instrument panel carrier.
NoteThere is a tab on the bracket that requires sliding the assembly slightly forward to release it.
-
Remove and discard the bolts (x3) that
attach the LH sunroof motor to the motor block.
-
Separate the LH sunroof motor from the
motor block.
NoteUse a plastic trim tool as needed.
-
Disconnect the connector from the LH
sunroof motor.
- Remove the RH instrument panel side cover. See Assembly - Instrument Panel Side Cover - LH (Remove and Replace)
-
Release the clips (x13) that attach
the RH instrument panel lower assembly, and then remove the lower assembly.
- Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
-
Remove and discard the bolts (x3) that
attach the RH sunroof motor to the motor block.
-
Separate the RH sunroof motor from the
motor block.
NoteUse a plastic trim tool as needed.
- Remove the panoramic roof sliding glass. See Sliding Glass - Panoramic Roof Assembly (Remove and Replace).
-
Gently lift up the rear section of the
left side roof applique to release the clips (x6), and then remove the left roof
applique.
NoteStore the applique in a safe area to avoid damage.
-
Add a mark to the underside of the
left applique to indicate that it has been removed.
NoteThe 2nd generation side applique can only be removed and reinstalled 10 times before it must be replaced due to damage to the clips. If there are already 9 or more marks on the underside of the applique, replace it.
-
Mark the location of the panoramic
roof rear left link relative to the panoramic roof frame.
-
Mark the location of the panoramic
roof front left link relative to the panoramic roof frame.
-
Slide the panoramic roof front left
link completely forward.
-
Remove the rear stop screw and the
stop bracket.
-
Remove the screws (x2) that attach the
left rear cam block.
-
Clean the left rear can block.
-
Slide the pano roof rear left link
forward towards the cam block opening.
NoteUse a long bit to help move the link.
-
Lift up the rear left link and remove
the guide shoe.
-
Slide the panoramic roof rear left
link back, past the frame channel.
-
Lift the rear left link up and rotate
it clockwise out from the panoramic roof rail.
CAUTIONBe careful not to damage the seal around the fixed glass.
-
Pull the left drive cable out until
the metal end tab is exposed.
NoteUse a pick tool to pull on the loop.
-
Grab the metal end tab with pliers and
pull it outwards.
NoteMake sure that at least 8 inches (20 cm) of drive cable is exposed.
-
Clean the rail and remove old
grease.
-
Remove the black return tube from the
LH sunroof motor block.
-
Remove the copper drive tube from the
LH sunroof motor block.
-
Remove the LH sunroof motor block from
the vehicle.
- Repeat steps 27 till 44 on the RH side of the vehicle.
Installation
- Position the LH sunroof motor block in the vehicle.
-
Install the copper drive tube to the
LH sunroof motor block.
-
Install the black return tube to the
LH sunroof motor block.
-
Push the left drive cable back into
the panoramic roof frame.
-
Insert the rear left link downward and
rotate it counter clockwise.
NoteMake sure the link is inserted into the drive cable shoe. Do not damage the fixed glass seal.
-
Gently tap the rear left link to move
the assembly into the frame channel.
-
Slide the panoramic roof rear left
link forward to the cam block opening.
NoteUse a long bit to help move the link.
-
Lift up the rear left link and install
the guide shoe.
-
Slide the panoramic roof rear left
link back, towards the rear opening.
NoteLine up the paint marks at the link and the panoramic roof frame.
-
Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
left rear cam block (torque 5 Nm).
-
Install the rear stop screw (torque
6.5 Nm) and stop bracket.
NoteMake sure that the orientation of the tab is facing towards the vehicle cabin.
-
Slide the panoramic roof front left
link back.
NoteLine up the paint marks at the link and the panoramic roof frame.
- Repeat steps 1 through 12 on the RH side of the vehicle.
-
Install the RH roof applique.
Note6x clips. Inspect and ensure appropriate gap and flush fitment of the side appliques.

Install the LH roof applique.

- Install the sliding glass. See Sliding Glass - Panoramic Roof Assembly (Remove and Replace).
-
Install new patch bolts (x3) that
attach the LH sunroof motor to the motor block (torque 5 Nm).
-
Install the amplifier/tuner bracket
assembly back into the instrument panel.
NoteMake sure the tab is above the instrument panel, otherwise there will be a large gap near the bulkhead.
-
Install the bolts (x3) that attach the
tuner bracket to the instrument panel (torque 6 Nm).
-
Reconnect the tuner connectors and
install the edge clip.
-
Install the screws (x2) that attach
the OBD II connector to the bracket (torque 2.3 Nm).
-
Connect the premium amplifier, if
equipped.
- Install the LH footwell cover. See Assembly - Cover - Footwell - Driver's (Remove and Replace).
-
Install the LH center console closeout
extension.
-
Install the clips (x7) that attach the
LH front console side panel.
-
Install the LH lower A-pillar
trim.
NoteReplace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing the trim.
-
Install the LH middle A-pillar
trim
-
Install the LH lower instrument panel
trim (1 x screw, torque 2 Nm, 9 x clips).
NoteReplace any damaged or missing clips prior to installation.
- Install the LH floor mat.
- Install the LH instrument panel closeout extension. See Assembly - Closeout Extension - LH - Center Console (Remove and Replace).

Position the RH sunroof motor onto the
motor block.
-
Install new patch bolts (x3) that
attach the RH sunroof motor to the motor block (torque 5 Nm).
- Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
-
Install the clips (x13) that attach
the RH instrument panel lower assembly.
-
Install the lower glove box trim
panel.
NoteReplace any damaged or missing clips prior to installation.
-
Install the RH instrument panel side
cover. See Assembly - Instrument Panel Side Cover - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Reconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
-
Install the HEPA filter outlet
duct.
-
Install the HEPA filter inlet
duct.
-
Install the push clips (x3) that
attach the HEPA filter inlet duct to the cowl panel.
-
Attach the drainage hoses to the HEPA
filter inlet duct.
- Install the RH and LH underhood aprons.
- Install the rear underhood apron.
- Close the hood.
- Calibrate the panoramic roof. See Panoramic Roof - Calibrate.
- Return the front seats to their original position.
- Raise both front windows and close the doors.
- Close the liftgate.
