Tesla does not allow the use of any used, recycled, alternative, aftermarket, or third-party replacement parts. Use only new parts ordered directly from Tesla.

Note
Used, recycled, alternative, aftermarket, and third-party replacement parts are not covered under any warranty by Tesla. The use of these types of part might also cause other related components to not be covered under warranty.

Note the following:

  • Safety features and corrosion prevention treatments embodied in the vehicle may be impaired if non Tesla recommended parts are installed.
  • Torque wrench setting figures given in this Manual must be used.
  • Locking devices, where specified, must be fitted. If the efficiency of a locking device is impaired during removal, it must be replaced.
  • The terms of the vehicle warranty may be invalidated by the fitting of parts other than Tesla recommended parts.

Software

Tesla-developed diagnostic and calibration software is designed and tested to Tesla specifications. Tesla is not involved with the creation, production, or certification of third-party diagnostic software and interfaces, which may compromise vehicle systems and/or occupant safety. Tesla recommends the use of only Tesla-developed diagnostic and calibration software, available from the vehicle touchscreen, or through subscription from service.tesla.com.

"Remove & Install" vs. "Remove & Replace"

"Remove and Install” (R&I) is to remove a part, and then reinstall that same part again. Typically this type of procedure is used when a part needs to be removed in order to complete the repair of another component.

“Remove and Replace” (R&R) is to remove a part and replace it with a new one.
