Tuner - FM / HD (LHD) (Refresh) (Remove and Replace)

Open LH front door
-
Move LH front seat backward
-
Open hood
NoteVia Controls > Front Trunk

Power off vehicle via UI
NoteVia Controls > Safety > Power Off

Remove rear underhood apron
Note8x clips
-
Remove LH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Remove RH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Release drainage hoses from HEPA filter inlet duct
Note2x hoses
-
Remove clips securing HEPA filter inlet duct to cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Remove HEPA filter inlet duct
Note2x clips on HEPA filter
-
Remove HEPA filter outlet duct from vehicle
NoteLift up, pull towards front of vehicle, then rotate clockwise
-
Disconnect 12V negative terminal and First Responder Loop
Note1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, 1x connector, Wait at least 2 minutes before disconnecting modules or HV components

Remove LH IP side cover
Note4x clips, 1x connector
-
Remove LH lower IP trim
Note1x screw, T20, 2 Nm, 9x clips
-
Remove LH floor mat
Note4x velcro pads
-
Partially remove LH center console side panel
Note3x clips
-
Remove LH center console closeout extension
Note6x clips
-
Remove LH footwell cover
Note2x screws, T20, 2 Nm, 1x connector
-
Remove LH middle A-pillar trim
Note2x clips
-
Remove LH lower A-pillar trim
Note4x clips, The number of clips securing the trim varies depending on vehicle production date, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing sill trim
-
Disconnect premium amplifier if equipped
Note1x connector, Applies only to vehicle equipped with premium audio

Remove OBD II connector from tuner bracket
Note2x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm
-
Remove bolts securing tuner bracket to IP
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 2 are accessible from bottom, 1 is accessible from front
-
Disconnect tuner and move harness for clearance
Note2x connectors, 1x Tree clip
-
Release harness bracket clip to dash brace then remove the amp/tuner bracket assembly out through the bottom of IP the carrier
Note1x edge clip *Rotate tuner at different angles to ease removal, use caution not to damage brake switch or wiring harnesses

Remove tuner from bracket
Note3x Bolts, T25, 4 Nm*Make note of orientation in bracket and discard bolts
-
Install new tuner onto bracket
Note3x bolts, T25, 4 Nm, Install new patch bolts
-
Make connections at tuner
Note2x connectors
-
Install amp/tuner bracket assembly back into IP
NoteMake sure tab is above the IP otherwise there will be a large gap near bulkhead
-
Install bolts securing tuner bracket
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm
-
Connect the premium amplifier if equipped
Note1x connector, Fully seat connector, then engage locking tab
-
Connect First Responder Loop and 12V negative terminal
Note1x connector, 1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, Connect First Responder Loop first

Connect vehicle to WiFi connection
NoteConnect vehicle to WiFi or Tesla WiFi if available, Maintain WiFi connection for profile functions and firmware download

Place vehicle in service mode with touchscreen
NotePre-FW 2020.48.25 hold Tesla "T" icon at top of center display for four seconds and then type "service" into Access Code box, Post-FW 2020.48.25 The Tesla T has been removed from the top bar of the UI, Press and hold for 2sec the vehicle's badge icon in Controls > Software for Access Code box

Select "Software Reinstall"
NoteControls > Service Mode > Software Reinstall

Request partial software reinstall from touchscreen
NotePress a car icon on touchscreen => Service Mode => Software Reinstall => Partial => Request, Vehicle will send a request to Tesla server for reinstallation of current firmware, Yellow clock installation icon should appear within 1 hour

Perform firmware update
NoteControls or yellow clock installation icon > Software Update > Install now, Tap center display next to software update window until clock runs down to 0, After displayed installation time, Check center display and ensure the firmware package was successfully installed

Exit Service Mode
NoteControls > Service Mode > Exit Service Mode

Install OBD II male side to bracket
Note2x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm
-
Install LH footwell cover
Note2x screws, T20, 2 Nm, 1x connector
-
Install LH console closeout extension
Note12x clips
-
Install LH lower A-pillar trim
Note4x clips, The number of clips securing the A-pillar sill trim varies depending on vehicle production date, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing sill trim

Install LH middle A-pillar trim
-
Fully seat LH center console side panel
Note3x clips
-
Install LH floor mat
Note4x velcro pads
-
Install LH IP side cover
Note4x clips, 1x connector
-
Move LH front seat to original position
-
Install HEPA filter outlet duct
-
Install HEPA filter inlet duct
Note2x tabs, One on each side
-
Install clips securing HEPA filter inlet duct to cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Secure drainage hoses to HEPA filter inlet duct
Note2x hoses
-
Install RH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Install LH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Install rear underhood apron
Note8x clips
-
Close hood
NotePress firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

Raise LH front window and close door
