BMS Standoff - High Voltage Battery Assembly (Repair)

  • 1082761-00-A Hand Tap Cassette
  • 1076988-00-A ESD-Safe Express Plus HEPA Vacuum

Procedure

  1. Remove the damaged BMS standoff from the ancillary tray.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm 12-point deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  2. Use a M5 x 0.8 mm tap to carefully chase the threads in the riser and correct the cross-threading condition.

    Note
    Make sure that the tap is perpendicular to the flat on the riser.
  3. Use an ESD-safe vacuum to clean the riser hole and around the riser.

    Ensure the ancillary tray is clear of all metal shavings and debris.
  4. Install a new BMS standoff into the reworked hole.
    7.5 Nm (5.5 lbs-ft)

    Make sure that the standoff threads perpendicular to the flat on the riser.

    Note
    If the torque specification cannot be attained, the battery must be returned to remanufacturing for refurbishment.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm 12-point deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Electronic Torque Wrench
