Spring and Damper Assembly - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 31152002
Removal
- Remove the LH rear wheelarch liner (refer to procedure).
- Remove the parking brake caliper (refer to procedure).
- Remove the mid aero shield (refer to procedure).
- Remove the bolt that secures the upper link to the knuckle (torque 140 Nm).
- Support the rear suspension with a stand.

Remove the bolt that secures the outer toe link to the knuckle (torque 130
Nm).

Release the bushing from the knuckle, lifting the arm for access.
- Remove the nut and bolt that secure the rear spring and damper assembly to the knuckle (torque 140 Nm).

Release the spring and damper assembly from the suspension knuckle.
- Remove the nuts (x3) that secure the spring and damper assembly to the body (torque 40 Nm).

Remove the spring and damper assembly from the vehicle.
CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).

Remove the nuts (x3) that secure the adaptor plate to the spring and damper
assembly (torque 40 Nm).
NoteReplace the LH and RH rear spring and damper assemblies if the vehicle has over 80,500 kilometers (50,000 miles).
Installation
Note
Clean the affected areas before
installation.
CAUTION
Replace all nylon-insert
locknuts.
CAUTION
Replace all patchbolt(s).
CAUTION
Ensure that the bolt that secures the
spring assembly to the knuckle is inserted towards the rear of the vehicle; the head
of the bolt faces the front of the vehicle and the nut is tightened at the rear.
CAUTION
Only fully tighten suspension nuts
and bolts when the vehicle is on a 4-post lift and the suspension is in the ride
height position.
Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
