Open all four doors
-
Lower all four windows
-
Open hood
NoteVia Controls > Front Trunk

Open charge port door
Notevia Controls > Charging > Open Charge Port
-
Open liftgate
-
Remove parcel shelf
-
Remove trunk load floor
-
Remove trunk sill panel
Note4x clips, 4x guides
-
Remove LH rear C-pillar trim
Note1x screw, T25, 3 Nm, 4x clips
-
Remove LH trunk side garnish trim
Note2x clips, 1x guide
-
Remove trunk floor carpet
Note4x fir tree clips
-
Remove LH trunk side trim panel
Note1x fir clip
-
Remove rear underhood apron
Note8x clips
-
Remove RH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Remove LH underhood apron
Note9x clips, (*Use this step for Model S Refresh procedures)

Release primary and secondary drain tubes from cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x hoses
-
Release cabin intake duct assembly from cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Remove cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x clips, one on each side
-
Remove HEPA filter outlet duct
NoteLift up, Pull towards front of vehicle, Then rotate clockwise
-
Power off vehicle via UI
NoteVia Controls > Safety > Power Off
-
Disconnect 12V negative terminal and First Responder Loop
Note1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, 1x connector, Wait at least 2 minutes before disconnecting modules or HV components

Verify operation of multimeter
NoteSet multimeter to DC voltage, Confirm multimeter is properly measuring voltage by testing the 12v battery

Remove all items from pockets and ensure not wearing metal items
-
Inspect HV insulating gloves

Put on HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves
NoteUse HV cut resistant insulated gloves or HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves, HV Insulating gloves must be worn any time a Hioki Tester or Hi-Pot Tester is used, Refer to service document TN-15-92-003 R5 for PPE requirements depending on vehicle configuration.

Verify there is no high voltage present at the charge port on the type 2 (AC charge inlet)
NoteMake sure to wear PPE (HV gloves, safety glasses) when working on high voltage component, Be sure to place the positive test lead on the side of the HV pin just past the plastic protective covers Measure the the voltage between the four dead front pins to each other and then between B+ (the four dead front pins) to B- (use trunk striker bolt as a ground for the isolation check), If voltage is greater than 10V, pack contactors are welded or not open, Stop work and reach out to Service Engineering

Remove leather over gloves and HV insulating gloves

Release edge clips securing manual release cables to charge port assembly
Note2x clips

Release logic connector from chargeport assembly
Note1x connector, Fully remove white locking tab before disconnecting

Release AC 3 phase connector from chargeport assembly
Note1x connector, Release locking tab upward
-
Install silicone rubber to AC 3 phase connector
Note4x patch, Cut silicone rubber, 10mm section, tear off back glue, and then neatly stick to specified area of connector

Install AC 3 phase connector to charge port assembly
Note1x connector, Slide downward to engage

Install logic connector to charge port assembly
Note1x connector, Make sure connector is fully locked

Secure edge clips holding manual release cables to dual charge port assembly housing
Note2x clips

Install rear trunk side trim panel
Note1x clip

Install trunk floor carpet
Note4x clips

Install LH trunk side garnish trim
Note2x clips
-
Install LH rear C-pillar trim
Note1x screw, T25, 3 Nm, 4x clips
-
Install trunk sill panel
Note4x clips, 4x guides
-
Install trunk load floor
-
Install parcel shelf
-
Close liftgate
-
Connect First Responder Loop and 12V negative terminal
Note1x connector, 1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, Connect First Responder Loop first

Install HEPA filter outlet duct
-
Install cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x tabs, One on each side
-
Install cabin intake duct assembly to cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Install primary and secondary drain tubes to cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x hoses
-
Install RH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Install LH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Install rear underhood apron
Note8x clips
-
Close hood
NotePress firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood
-
Verify operation of charging system
NoteConfirm that AC and DC charging are ok

Raise all four windows
-
Close all doors
