Remove Main Lower Dash Harness

  1. Set up A/C machine and perform hose flush.

  2. Set and align vehicle close and straight to the hoist.

    Set jack mode if equipped with air suspension.
  3. Position wheel chocks at LH rear wheel.
  4. Place vehicle into "Tow Mode".

    Via Controls > Settings > Service and Reset.
  5. Open hood.

    Using MCU touchscreen > Controls > Frunk Trunk.
  6. Remove rear underhood apron.

  7. Remove RH underhood apron.

  9. Release drainage hoses from HEPA filter inlet duct.

  10. Remove clips securing HEPA filter inlet duct to cowl panel.

  12. Remove HEPA filter outlet duct from vehicle.

    Lift up, pull towards front of vehicle, then rotate clockwise.
  13. Open liftgate.
  14. Lower all 4 windows.
  15. Open all four doors.
  16. Remove all floor mats.
  17. Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace).
  18. Remove RH IP side cover.

  21. Connect hoses to vehicle and perform A/C recovery.

  23. Remove cover for RH A Pillar trim fastener.

  26. Remove the lower binnacle cover from the IP area of the vehicle.

  36. Open glovebox.
  37. Remove LH lower IP trim assembly.
  38. Remove the lower glove box trim.
  39. Remove the glove box screws.

  40. Remove glove box from vehicle and disconnect the connections from the back of the glove box.

  43. Cover the aluminum strip on the top pad and MCU bezel with tape protection.
  44. Release the top pad using the airbag tools.

  45. Remove screws securing LH side instrument panel finisher assembly to the IP carrier.

  56. Power the RH seat fully rearward for access.
  57. Remove the RH front seat front track covers.

  58. Remove and discard bolts securing both RH seat tracks to the floor panel.

  59. Adjust the position of the RH seat for easy removal.

  60. Move LH front seat forward.
  61. Remove the LH front seat rear track covers.

  83. Remove LH side console closeout panel.

  84. Remove bolt securing LH front of console to IP.

  85. Remove RH side console closeout panel.

  87. Disconnect 2 USB connectors and release from console trim.

  88. Release clip securing connector and disconnect 12V harness connector.

  89. Remove cup holder inserts.

  90. Remove console floor panel.
  91. Remove bolts securing middle of console to body.

  92. Lift rear of console up, pull backwards, and lift up and remove from vehicle.

  93. Put on ESD wrist strap.
  94. Connect ESD wrist strap to vehicle ground.
  95. Release ground strap from top of MCU.
  96. Remove the MCU mounting screws.

    4x screws, T25, 4.5 Nm.
  97. Tilt the MCU out from the IP carrier at the top in order to access connectors.

  98. Disconnect harness connectors to MCU.

  99. Prepare ESD kit.

    Refer to TN-14-92-003, "Electrostatic Discharge Tool". CAUTION: Improper use of ESD kit can result in damage to MCU and/or touchscreen. CAUTION: Make sure that ESD foam container is free of debris so that touchscreen is not damaged in a later step..
  100. Place an ESD foam container on the right side of the ESD mat.
  101. Gently place the MCU on the ESD foam container with the touchscreen facing down.

  102. Remove fasteners securing instrument cluster to IP carrier.

  103. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear of the instrument cluster and remove from IP carrier.

    3x connectors, tilt the IC away from the IP carrier to access connections, Take care not to put excessive strain on the wiring and connectors to the IC (1x chime connector pulls straight out, 1x flip lock type connector, 1x coaxial connector, release tab is on the underside of the connector), After removal place the IC on ESD safe surface.
  104. Disconnect connectors from RH side of DAS ECU.

  105. Remove fasteners securing the ECU to the cross car beam.

  106. Disconnect connectors from LH side of DAS ECU and remove from vehicle.

  107. Disconnect ESD wrist strap from vehicle ground.
  108. Remove the ESD wrist strap.
  109. Remove the passenger airbag mounting bolts.

  110. Disconnect passenger airbag connectors.

  111. Release top pad at leading edge, from RH outer finisher to inner finisher.

  112. Release the LH side of the top pad working from right to left.

  115. Unbolt the screws securing airbag to steering wheel.

    2x screws, T25, 7 Nm, The screws will remain inside the steering wheel, If required rotate the steering wheel to gain access to screws, Afterwards return steering wheel to straight and center position.
  116. Carefully release the driver's airbag from the steering wheel assembly and disconnect the airbag and steering wheel controls.

  119. Remove steering wheel.
  120. Tape the clockspring cassette to prevent rotation.

  122. Release harness connector from SCCM and remove SCCM.

  127. Release steering column from lower shaft.

  129. Remove steering column from vehicle.
  130. Remove the fasteners securing the IP carrier to the dash frame.

  131. Pull the IP carrier forward for better access for speaker and edge clip removal.

  135. Remove all edge clips secured to the IP carrier.

  136. Remove IP carrier from vehicle.

    Recommend assistance, Lift up air duct from HVAC assembly, 1x center dash speaker tape to duct.
  137. Remove A/C lines from vehicle.

  138. Disconnect the cross car beam harness connectors at the RH lower A pillar.

  139. Remove LH upper A-pillar harness connectors from body and disconnect.

  140. Remove cross car beam harness connectors at lower LH lower A pillar.

  141. Remove the bolts securing the HVAC assembly and body to the cross car beam.

  142. Remove bolts securing cross car beam to body.

    Recommend assistance, Exercise caution when removing the cross car beam, the brake switch is attached to the cross car beam and is susceptible to failure.
  144. Remove the LH footwell harness cover.

  145. Release LH rear sill panel to gain access to lower B-pillar trim fastener.

  148. Release LH upper B-pillar trim from body and allow to hang freely.

  159. Remove LH rear C-pillar trim.

  160. Remove the LH rear mid C-pillar trim.

  163. Pull on the LH trunk side trim to expose the LH bolster clip.

Install Front Trunk Harness

  1. Place new front trunk harness into the front of the vehicle.
  2. Route cabin portion of front trunk harness through opening in bulkhead and seat sealing grommet.

  3. Remove the plastic cover in the in cabin portion of the Front Harness, then route and secure harness clips to RH side of the Bulkhead.

  4. Make connections at the Air Suspension Control Module.

  5. Secure the Front Harness Ground connection at the In-Cabin Fuse Box.

  7. Un-bundle RH portion of new front trunk harness and route against bulkhead down RH side behind HV cables that run to the FJB.
  8. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks.
  9. Remove the connector carrier for FEM connections from the new harness.

  10. Apply tape to the secure connector lock for the Fuse Box connector from the RH leg of the harness.

    The connector will need to be passed through a tight between the A/C lines and taping the lock in place will assist in the later step.
  11. Route right side of front trunk harness under shock tower cross member and out towards front of RH body beam.

    Working from right front fender well, pass the harness through the opening under shock tower cross member, If needed raise or lower the vehicle on the lift to work from above and in the fender well to ease in routing harness.
  12. Secure harness clips near Brake Booster.

  20. Locate the RH harness ground connections from the separate harness legs and route towards grounding points on RH Shock Tower.
