Headliner - Panoramic Roof (Remove and Replace)

Removal

Note

Newer replacement headliner assemblies might not include an overhead console. If necessary, source a new overhead console, or reuse the old console. Refer to the parts catalog for more information.

Open all four doors
Open Liftgate
Lower all 4 windows
Remove LH IP side cover

Note
4x clips, 1x connector
Remove LH middle A-pillar trim

Note
2x clips
Remove LH upper A-pillar trim panel

Note
1x screw with washer, 7mm, 2 Nm, 1x connector, 2x locating tabs, 1x clip
Remove RH IP side cover

Note
3x clips, 1x connector
Remove RH middle A-pillar trim
Remove RH upper A-pillar trim panel

Note
1x screw, 7mm, 2 Nm, 1x connector
Release clips securing overhead console assembly

Note
2x clips, Insert tool between headliner and console at rearward edge of console and pivot rear edge down
Disconnect microphone and intrusion sensor connectors and remove overhead console assembly

Remove cover from outer LH sun visor mount

Note
Take care not to damage the sun visor mounting cover
Remove LH sun visor

1x screw, T20, 2.8 Nm, 1x tab, 1x connector if equipped with lighted visors
Remove LH sun visor center support

1x screw, T15, 2.5 Nm, Release cover and remove screw
Remove cover from outer RH sun visor mount

Remove rear view mirror lower trim

Disconnect the rear view mirror electrical connector

Rotate mirror to release
Remove the rear cover by pulling down to release the clips

Disconnect triple cam, cam heater grid and temperature humidity sensor connector

Disconnect headliner harness at LH A-pillar and remove harness from guide channel

Disconnect heated wiper area connector and tape to windshield, if equipped

Move LH front seat forward
Release bottom portion of LH lower C-pillar trim

2x clips,Take care not to damage, Release the lower portion for access, Replace any damaged or missing clips
Remove fasteners securing LH lower B-pillar trim

2x screws, T25, 2 Nm
Remove LH lower B-pillar trim

6x plastic clips to body, 2x metal clips to upper B-pillar, Replace any damaged or missing clips, Lift the trim to clear the seat and pre-tensioner
Remove LH upper B-pillar trim and move it aside

2x metal clips, 1x tab, First pull the lower part toward inside the vehicle to release clips, once released pull the trim downwards
Remove RH lower A-pillar trim

Move RH front seat forward
Release bottom portion of RH lower C-pillar trim

Installation

Install headliner through the liftgate area

Tip: The headliner shipping bag might be useful as a "third hand" for installation.
1. Lay the shipping bag flat with the opening toward you.
2. Use scissors to cut both the top and bottom sides of the bag up the middle, until there is about 12 in (30 cm) left. The bag will look like a pair of pants.
3. Open the vehicle front/rear (as appropriate) doors, set the bag on the vehicle roof, and then bring the "legs" of the bag through each doorway into the cabin.
4. Tie the very ends of the legs together to make a very loose loop out of the cabin, over the roof, and back into the cabin. If the loop is too tight, cut a little more up the middle.
5. Use the loop to support the headliner during installation. If the loop is too loose, tie an additional knot to reduce slack.
Install rear portion of headliner into position and clip into place

Install front portion of headliner into position and secure clips

Connect triple cam, cam heater grid and temperature humidity sensor connector

Install the upper mirror cover

Note
4x clips, Make sure the rear view mirror harness is routed so that it hangs freely on the outside and is not pinched between the cover and glare shield assembly
Install the rear view mirror by turning it counter clockwise till it is secure
Connect rear view mirror connector and tuck harness slack along the arm
