Shock Tower Brace - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 10102002

Removal

  1. Make sure that the wipers are in the off position by rotating the end of the left-hand steering column lever towards the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Open the hood to the service position.
  3. Remove both wiper arms (refer to procedure).
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH shock tower brace to the shock tower (torque 20 Nm).
  5. Remove the clip that attaches the cowl screen to the LH shock tower brace.

    Note
    RHD vehicles have an additional bolt that attaches the coolant reservoir to the underside of the shock tower brace (torque 5 Nm). Remove the bolt before proceeding.
  6. Remove the remaining fasteners:
    1. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the air suspension reservoir to the LH shock tower brace (red arrows) (torque 6 Nm).
    2. Remove the bolt that attaches the wiper motor assembly to the LH shock tower brace (yellow arrow) (torque 6 Nm).
    3. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH shock tower brace to the bulkhead (green arrow) (torque 30 Nm).
  7. Release the clip that attaches the wiring harness to the LH strut.

    CAUTION
    Remove the clip carefully.
  8. Remove the LH shock tower brace.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  • Clean the affected areas before installation.
  • Make sure that the wipers are set back to the Auto position by rotating the end of the left-hand steering column lever towards the front of the vehicle.
