Air Spring Module - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 31105002
- 2024-08-19: Added note to perform air dryer regeneration when replacing component because of a leak.
Warning
If the vehicle has air
suspension, activate "Jack" mode on the touchscreen before raising and
supporting the vehicle.
Note
When replacing an air spring module for failure, inspect all air spring modules for
leak, wear, or reduced performance, and replace them as necessary.
Removal
-
Raise and support the vehicle.
See Raise Vehicle - 4 Post Lift.
WarningDo not work on an incorrectly supported vehicle.
- Depressurize the air spring. See Air Suspension - Pressurize/Depressurize - One Air Spring.
- Remove the front road wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
-
Remove the nuts (x3) that attach
the air spring module top mount (torque 39 Nm).
- Raise the vehicle.
- Note the orientation of the clip that attaches the brake hose to the air spring module. Release the clip.
-
Remove the nut and bolt that
attach the air spring module to the lower arm (torque 140 Nm).
CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).CAUTIONReplace all nylon-insert locknuts.NoteThe following image shows a rear wheel drive (RWD) air spring module. The air spring module in a dual motor (DM) vehicle looks different.
-
Carefully compress the air spring module and release it from the lower
arm.
- Release the air pressure line from the chassis rail clip.
-
Maneuver the air spring module to access the air pressure line.
CAUTIONThoroughly clean the air pressure line ports prior to disconnection. Failure to maintain cleanliness will adversely affect system performance.
-
Undo the collar and remove the air pressure line (torque 5 Nm).
CAUTIONPlug pipe connections to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.
-
Remove the air spring module.
CAUTIONEnsure that you do not damage the halfshaft if removing an air spring module from a Dual Motor vehicle.

Installation
-
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
CAUTIONReplace all nylon-insert locknuts.NoteClean the affected areas before installation.CAUTIONOnly fully tighten suspension nuts and bolts when the vehicle is on a 4-post lift and the suspension is in the ride height position.NotePerform the following steps to resecure air suspension lines:
- Remove the collet and fitting from the air suspension line. Discard the collet and fitting.
1 Collet - Secure a new VOSS fitting onto the component. Remove any plastic plugs from the new fitting.
- Insert the air suspension line as far as possible into the fitting.
- Gently pull on the air suspension line to make sure the line is fully secured to the compressor.
- Remove the collet and fitting from the air suspension line. Discard the collet and fitting.
-
Ensure that the clip that secures the brake hose to the air spring module is
installed correctly.
-
Rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles: The hose and the clip are
installed from the same direction.NoteEnsure that the clip is fully seated, with the “fingers” both remaining on the bottom side of the retaining bracket.

-
Rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles: The hose and the clip are
installed from the same direction.
- Prior to attaching the air pressure line to the air spring module, ensure that all interfaces are clean to prevent possible leaks.
-
Pressurize the air spring. See
Air Suspension - Pressurize/Depressurize - One Air Spring.
Note
If the component was replaced because of a leak, perform the air dryer regeneration procedure to purge the accumulated moisture from the dryer. See Air Dryer - Tesla Air Suspension (Regenerate), and add correction code 31101008 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.
- Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
