  1. Open LH front door
  2. Open hood

  3. Remove RH underhood apron
  4. Remove LH underhood apron
  5. Remove rear underhood apron
  6. Release the front part of the frunk carpet to gain access and disconnect the frunk light and release switch

  7. Remove nuts and bolts securing underhood storage unit

    2x nuts, 8mm, 4 Nm, 2x bolts, 13mm, 8 Nm
  8. Push wiring harness grommet through underhood storage unit and remove

  9. Unclip coolant hose from RH subframe brace

    1 fir tree clip
  10. Remove the upper fastener from the RH subframe brace

    1x bolt, 13mm, 26 Nm
  11. Raise and support vehicle

    Set air suspension to "Jack Mode" if equipped
  12. Remove lug nut covers from RH front wheel

  13. Loosen RH front wheel

    5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
  14. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  15. Remove RH front wheel

  16. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  17. Remove clips securing front aero shield to vehicle

  18. Remove bolts securing front aero shield to vehicle

    6x bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm, 2x bolts, T40, 4 Nm
  19. Remove front aero shield from vehicle
  20. Loosen the RH tie rod end jam nut

  21. Remove the lower fastener from the RH subframe brace and remove brace from vehicle

  22. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height
  23. Remove the nut that secures the tie rod end to the RH knuckle

    1x nut, 21mm, 103 Nm, Prevent ball joint damage from spinning by holding the ball joint pin with counter force to the nut, Discard after removal
  24. Loosen RH outer tie rod and remove from steering rack

    Count the number of turns and remember for install, If needed you can use a paint pen to mark the location of the outer tie rod relative to the steering rack threads
  25. Remove RH jam nut from inner tie rod
  26. Remove RH inner tie rod outer bellows clamp

    Note clamp orientation for installation
  27. Remove RH inner tie rod inner bellows clamp

    Use the flat head screwdriver to pop the clamp off the retaining tab
  28. Remove the RH inner tie rod bellows
  29. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  30. Inspect RH steering gear output shaft

    Note
    The grease on the steering gear rack bar shall not contain dirt. If there is dirt in the grease, there is a risk that the ball nut bearing assembly is damaged already. Discontinue this procedure and replace the rack.
  31. Install the inner band clip on the RH tie rod bellows

    Do not clamp at this time
  32. Use Renolit JP 1619 to grease the bellows before installation

    Renolit JP 1619 is supplied with the tie rod kit
  33. Install the bellows on to the RH inner tie rod
  34. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  35. Secure the RH inner tie rod band clip by clamping the clip ear

    The tie rod band clip can be secured from the frunk area. If required, rotate the band to properly access the ear clip
  36. Loosely install subframe RH subframe brace with upper bolt

    1x bolt, 13mm, 26 Nm, Do not torque the fastener at this time
  37. Raise vehicle fully and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side, Ensure the vehicle is stable by rocking the vehicle on the lift immediately after the tires have left the ground, Always lower the lift arms onto the locks after raising the vehicle
  38. Install subframe RH subframe brace lower mounting bolt

  39. Install front aero shield onto vehicle

  43. Install outer hose clip on RH inner tie rod bellows

  44. Install RH jam nut onto inner tie rod

  45. Install RH tie rod end and snug the jam nut

  46. Install nut securing RH front tie rod end to RH front knuckle

  47. Torque RH tie rod end jam nut

  48. Install RH front wheel

    5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm, Start lug nuts by hand before using power tool
  49. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

  50. Torque RH front wheel

  51. Install RH front lug nut covers

  52. Tighten RH upper subframe brace fastener

  53. Clip coolant hose to RH subframe brace

  55. Install underhood storage unit

    Secure hood release cable around RH side, Make sure hood release and light connectors are accessible
  56. Install bolts securing underhood storage unit

  57. Connect light and release switch connectors and install underhood storage carpet

  58. Install LH underhood apron
  59. Install RH underhood apron
  60. Install underhood apron
  61. Close hood

    Press firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood
  62. Remove vehicle from lift

    Lower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode"
  63. Close the LH front door.
  64. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
