Note

Note
Loosen suspension fasteners by hand,
then use a cordless electric drill with a 3/8 in drive adapter and an 3/8 in drive air
ratchet wrench.
Note
This procedure includes the removal of the new drive unit from the shipping crate,
unloading the new drive unit on the powertrain table, and boxing up the old drive unit
on the crate.
Removal
Installation
Note
Perform the Installation section of "Drive Unit - Rear -
Large (Remove and Install)".
- Refill the gearbox fluid.
- Inspect any components to be reused for wear or damage before transferring them to the new drive unit. Replace any damaged components.

Install a 12V charger to the 12V battery.
NoteThe vehicle 12V system must remain supported until the vehicle firmware reinstall/update is completed.
- Reinstall the latest vehicle firmware, or update the firmware if not the latest. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen or Firmware Update.
- Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.

Using Toolbox 3:
- After the routine completes, disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
