Subframe Assembly - Front (1st and 2nd Generations) (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove front subframe assembly for access:
  2. Remove the bolts that attach the steering rack assembly to the subframe (torque 175 Nm).

    Record the positions of any shims.
    Vehicles built before April 10, 2016 (1st Generation) Vehicles built after April 10, 2016 (2nd Generation)
  3. Remove steering rack from front subframe assembly.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
  • When reinstalling the bolts that attach the front subframe to the steering rack, follow this sequence:
    1. Tighten the LH bolt to 30 Nm.
    2. Tighten the RH bolt to 30 Nm.
    3. Fully torque the LH bolt to 175 Nm.
    4. Fully torque the RH bolt to 175 Nm.
  • Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
