Correction Code 24101002
- 2024-12-10: Added new caution about Pre-Installation Glass Inspection service requirements.
CAUTION
New glass components (windshield, roof, door, and fixed glass) must be inspected before installation to meet Tesla’s internal standards of quality. Perform the inspection described in Pre-Installation Glass Inspection before beginning this procedure.
Removal
Note
Before beginning this procedure, prepare a covered surface or workbench to support the moving glass after it is removed from the vehicle.
- Fully open the panoramic moving glass.
-
Remove and discard the mounting screws (x4) that secure the moving glass to the link assemblies (torque 5 Nm).
CAUTIONThe mounting screws are one time use. Ensure that new screws are used during reinstallation.
- Lift the moving glass panel upwards to remove it.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
- Install new mounting screws. Do not reuse the mounting screws.
- After installation, calibrate the panoramic roof (refer to procedure).
- Use a flashlight to look inside the hole in the front car cross seal. Inspect for an e-coated metal bracket that has black felt tape attached to the rear edge:CAUTIONWhen bending the latching tab, use a sheet metal bending tool, or similar tool, with wide clamps that are wrapped in flocked or felt tape to avoid damaging the painted surface of the tab.
1 Clamps covered in felt tape CAUTIONTake care not to crack the glass when adjusting the tab.- If a bracket is present, bend the latching tab on the moving glass frame so that it has a slight downward angle. This allows the latching tab to fit under the bracket when the moving glass is closed.
1 Moving glass fully closed 2 1.5 - 2 mm 3 Latching tab 4 Bracket - If no bracket is present, bend the latching tab so that it is straight.NoteFor more information on installing a bracket to prevent wind noise from the panoramic roof, refer to:
- North American vehicles: SB-13-24-006, Panoramic Wind Noise, North America
- European vehicles: SB-13-24-006, Panoramic Wind Noise, Europe
- If a bracket is present, bend the latching tab on the moving glass frame so that it has a slight downward angle. This allows the latching tab to fit under the bracket when the moving glass is closed.
- With the moving glass closed, have an assistant sit in the vehicle and firmly press up on the moving glass. If the glass moves, readjust the latching tab.
