Removal
- Open the LH front door.
- Lower the LH front window.
- Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Remove the rear wheels. See Wheels - Vehicle - Set (Remove and Install).
-
Raise the vehicle fully and lower the lift onto locks.
NoteSet the vehicle to comfortable working height. Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
-
Remove the bolts (x3) that
attach the LH shear plate to the vehicle (torque 6 Nm).
-
Remove the bolt that attaches
the LH shear plate to the vehicle (torque 4 Nm).
-
Remove the nut that attaches
the LH shear plate to the vehicle (torque 35 Nm), and then remove the plate
from the vehicle.
NoteDiscard the nut after removal.
- Repeat step 6 through step 8 for the RH shear plate.
- Remove the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the rear skidplate. See Skidplate - Rear (Remove and Replace).
-
Lower the vehicle partially
and set lift onto locks.
NoteRaise the lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered. Set vehicle to comfortable working height.
-
Position the subframe lifting tool underneath the rear subframe.
-
Connect the air supply to the subframe lifting tool.
-
With assistance, raise the powertrain table and subframe fixture into the subframe service holes.
-
Loosen the bolts (x4) that attach the subframe to the vehicle (torque 140 Nm).
CAUTIONDo not support the subframe using the mounting bolts alone. Use the powertrain table to support the subframe.CAUTIONDo not fully remove the bolts.
-
Partially lower the rear subframe fixture.
CAUTIONDo not support the subframe using the mounting bolts alone. Use the powertrain table to support the subframe.CAUTIONPay attention to the components surrounding the subframe, such as coolant hoses and HV cables, to avoid over-extending or damaging the components.NotePartially lower the subframe to access the rear toe link assembly.
-
Measure the gap between the rear subframe supports and the vehicle body.
NoteThe gap must be between 1/4in to 1/2in. Adjust the subframe fixture as needed to ensure a proper gap between the subframe and the vehicle body is present.
-
Release the clip that attaches the harness to the LH rear toe link assembly.
-
Remove the nut and bolt that attach the LH rear toe link assembly to the subframe (torque 80 Nm).
-
Remove the nut and bolt that
attach the LH rear toe link assembly to the knuckle (torque 130 Nm), and then
remove the LH rear toe link assembly from the vehicle.
- Repeat step 19 through step 21 for removing the RH rear toe link assembly from the vehicle.
Installation
-
Position the LH rear toe link assembly on the vehicle, and then install the nut and bolt that attach the toe link assembly to the knuckle.
Important: Do not torque the nut and bolt at this time.

- Repeat step 1 through step 3 for the RH rear toe link assembly.
-
Raise the rear subframe into position for installation.
-
Install the bolts (x4) that attach the subframe to the vehicle (torque 140 Nm).
- Lower the powertrain table and move the table away from the vehicle.
-
Disconnect the air supply from the subframe lifting tool.
- Install the rear skidplate. See Skidplate - Rear (Remove and Replace).
-
Position the LH shear plate
on the vehicle, and then install the nut that attaches the plate to the
vehicle (torque 35 Nm).
NoteInstall a new nyloc nut.
-
Install the bolt that
attaches the LH shear plate to the vehicle (torque 4 Nm).
-
Install the bolts (x3) that
attach the LH shear plate to the vehicle (torque 6 Nm).
- Repeat step 18 through step 20 for the RH shear plate.
-
Install the hub jack adapter onto the LH rear hub and hand-tighten the lug
nuts.
NoteUse modified hydraulic hub tool if correct adapter is not available.
- Position the support stand under the LH rear suspension, and then raise the stand to simulate vehicle at ride height.
-
Measure the distance from
the upper fore link to the bolt on the frame rail to make sure LH suspension
is set to ride height.
NoteThe distance should be 85mm +/- 5mm.
-
With the LH rear suspension set to ride height specification, torque the nut and bolt that attach the LH rear toe link assembly to the knuckle (torque 130 Nm).
-
With the LH rear suspension set to ride height specification, torque the nut and bolt that attach the LH rear toe link assembly to the subframe (torque 80 Nm).
- Remove the support stand from underneath the LH rear suspension.
- Remove the hub jack adapter from the LH rear hub.
- Repeat step 14 through step 20for the RH rear toe link assembly.
- Install the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
- Install the rear wheels. See Wheels - Vehicle - Set (Remove and Install).
- Fully lower the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Raise the LH front window.
- Close the LH front door.
- Check the vehicle suspension alignment requirements, and adjust if necessary. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
