Liftgate Assembly (Remove and Install)

Correction Code 10107001

Removal

  1. Power both front seats forward.
  2. Release the catches and fold the rear seat backrests (x2) forward for access.
  3. Release the clips (x2) and disconnect the gas struts (x2) from the liftgate mounting bracket ball joints.
  4. Remove the LH upper 'C' post trim (refer to procedure).
  5. Remove the RH upper 'C' post trim.
  6. Remove the rear glass upper trim (refer to procedure).
  7. Carefully release the clips (x6) that secure the headlining to the rear header and gently lower the headliner until a suitable tool can be installed onto the hinge nuts (x4).

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage component(s).
  8. Disconnect the RH liftgate wiring harness connector.
  9. Disconnect the LH liftgate wiring harness connector.
  10. Release the grommets that secure the wiring harnesses to the body.
    Tip: Tape a string or wire to the end of the wiring harness to make it easier to re-install later.
  11. Pull the wiring harness out of the body.
  12. Mark the installed position of the liftgate hinges to the body.
  13. Cut through the sealant around the edges of the liftgate hinges.
  14. With assistance, support the weight of the liftgate.
  15. Remove the nuts (x4) that secure the LH and RH liftgate hinges to the body (torque 16 Nm).
  16. With assistance, remove the liftgate.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
  1. Remove the old sealant from the liftgate hinges and body.
  2. Align the liftgate hinges to the marked locations.
  3. Check the alignment of the liftgate to the body and adjust as necessary.
  4. Once the hinge nuts are tightened, apply sealant around the hinges. Refer to SB-13-10-004, "Liftgate Hinge Sealing".
