Raise Vehicle - Floor Jack (Mobile Service)

- 2024-03-07: Added a warning to stay away from the vehicle before lifting to avoid injury.
Warning
This procedure details vehicle lifting for Mobile Service using a floor jack and supporting the vehicle on a jack stand. ONLY USE THIS PROCEDURE WHEN IT IS REFERENCED BY ANOTHER PROCEDURE.
Warning
"Jack mode" must be activated on vehicles with air suspension before lifting the vehicle. Failure to do this might lead to suspension damage and could cause serious personal injury.

reduce the risk of personal injury, use appropriate equipment while performing this
operation.

Do not work on an incorrectly supported
vehicle.
Warning
Failure to follow the critical steps and checks of this procedure
can lead to serious injury or death.
CAUTION
To avoid damage, NEVER support the vehicle from diagonal points (for example, LH front and RH rear) at the same time.
CAUTION
Perform a visual
check of the floor jack according to the equipment operator's manual before using
the floor jack.
Raise with Floor Jack
- Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
- Make sure that the hood, liftgate, and all doors are closed, unless necessary for the work to be performed.

Install wheel chocks on the wheel that is diagonally across from where the vehicle will be lifted, for example:
- Lift LH front of vehicle: chock RH rear wheel
- Lift RH front of vehicle: chock LH rear wheel
- Lift LH rear of vehicle: chock RH front wheel
- Lift RH rear of vehicle: chock LH front wheel
- Position the jack stand adapter on the floor jack.

Position the floor jack under the vehicle lift point, and then carefully raise the floor jack, aligning the jack stand adapter locating pin with the hole at the vehicle lift point.

Lift the vehicle until there is enough clearance for a jack stand under the vehicle, and then place a jack stand under the jack stand adapter.
CAUTIONIf an electric jack or pneumatic jack is used, stay away from the vehicle prior to raising it to avoid injuries.NoteAlign the jack stand cutout with the floor jack.NoteAlign the top opening of the jack stand with the bottom of the jack stand adapter.
- Slowly lower the floor jack, making sure the jack stand is aligned with the jack stand adapter.
- Move the floor jack out of the working area.

If installing another jack stand on the same axle or same side of the vehicle, repeat steps 3 to 8.
CAUTIONTo avoid damage, NEVER support the vehicle from diagonal points (for example, LH front and RH rear) at the same time.
Lower with Floor Jack
- Make sure no tools or parts are under the vehicle.
- Position the floor jack under the jack stand, and then carefully lift the vehicle off of the jack stand(s).
- Remove the jack stand(s) from under the vehicle.

Slowly lower the vehicle until the wheels are touching the ground.
CAUTIONTo avoid injuries, stay clear from the vehicle.
- Remove the floor jack from under the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel chocks from the vehicle.
