Lumbar Support - Backrest - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace)

  • 2025-06-23: Removed the side shield carrier steps, changed the LH 1st row lumbar pump foam housing clips (x2) to one-time clips, and added the seat calibration step.

Remove

  1. Remove the driver seat from the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Install).
  2. With assistance, place the driver seat on a protected surface so that the underside of the seat can be accessed.
  3. Remove the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    No need to separate the adjust buttons from the side shield.
  4. Remove the driver seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  5. Release the seat back elastic straps (x2) from the seat frame.
  6. Disconnect the FSB vent heat pad electrical connector from the driver seat controller.
  7. Release the clip and bracket that attach the FSC and FSB vent heat pad harnesses to the seat assembly, and then remove the harnesses from the assembly.

    Note
    One harness is for the seat cushion and the other is for the seat back. The upper bracket aids in routing while the lower clip secures them.
  8. Position the seat upright.
  9. Remove the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  10. Disconnect the fan controller electrical connector from the seat harness.
  11. Disconnect the driver seat microphone electrical connector, and then release clip that attaches the harness to the driver seat back rest foam.
  12. Release the female side of the microphone connector and harness clips (x2) from the seat back suspension.
  13. Release the trim strap, and then release the trim retainers (x6) that attach the seat back trim retainers to the seat back frame.
  14. Carefully release the driver seat cover from the driver seat, and then set the cover aside for access.
  15. Push down on the tab to release the driver seat side air bag electrical connector, and then disconnect the connector.
  16. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat side airbag harness to the driver seat seat frame.
  17. Remove the bolt that attaches the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  18. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the lower portion of the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  19. Carefully pull the seat cover and foam assembly away from the frame, and then remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat side air bag to the seat back frame assembly.

    • 10 mm deep socket
  20. Release the RH side of the driver seat back trim assembly, and then move the trim aside for access.
  21. With assistance, remove the driver seat back trim assembly from the seat frame.
  22. Disconnect the driver seat backrest pitch motor electrical connector.
  23. Release the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat harness from the driver seat backrest lumbar support.
  24. Disconnect the driver seat lumbar valve pack assembly electrical connector.
  25. Disconnect driver seat lumbar pump electrical connector.
  26. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the RH side of seat back frame.
  27. Remove and discard the driver seat lumbar pump foam housing pouch clips (x2) from the seat back frame.
  28. Release the driver seat suspension insulator clips (x2) from the seat back frame.

    Note
    Move the clips downward after released. This will allow clearance when removing the power lumbar seat back assembly.
  29. Push the driver seat backrest lumbar support downward to clear suspension arms (x2), and then move the assembly away from the seat back frame to remove it from the seat assembly.

    If discarding the assembly, transfer over the suspension insulator clips.

Install

  1. Position the driver seat backrest lumbar support onto the seat frame, install the suspension arms (x2) into position, and then secure the lower tabs (x2) onto the back rest frame.

    If installing a new assembly, transfer over the insulator suspension clips.
  2. Install new driver seat lumbar pump foam housing pouch clips (x2) (2077509-00-A) onto the seat back frame.
  3. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the RH side of seat back frame.
  4. Connect the driver seat lumbar pump electrical connector.
  5. Connect the driver seat lumbar valve pack assembly electrical connector.
  6. Install the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat harness from the driver seat backrest lumbar support.
  7. Disconnect the driver seat backrest pitch motor electrical connector.
  8. With assistance, maneuver the driver seat back trim assembly downward onto the seat frame to install it onto the seat assembly.
  9. Carefully secure the RH side of the driver seat back trim onto the driver seat frame.
  10. Install new nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat side air bag to the seat back frame assembly.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)

  11. Secure the tabs (x2) that attach the lower portion of the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  12. Install the bolt that attaches the driver seat backrest lumbar support to the seat back frame.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  13. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat side airbag harness to the driver seat seat frame.
  14. Connect the driver seat side air bag electrical connector, and then secure the safety lock.
  15. Carefully secure the LH side of the driver seat seat cover and foam onto the seat frame.
  16. Secure the retainers (x6), and then secure the trim strap onto the driver seat seat back frame.
  17. Secure the female side of microphone connector and harness clips (x2) onto seat back suspension.
  18. Connect the driver seat microphone, and then secure harness clip onto the seat back foam.
  19. Slide the fan controller electrical connector downward to install it onto the bracket, and then connect the electrical connector.
  20. Install the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  21. Position the driver seat assembly onto the seat back.

    Note
    Protect the seat from damage.
  22. Secure the clip and bracket that attach the FSC and FSB vent heat pad harnesses to the seat assembly.

  23. Connect the FSB vent heat pad electrical connector from the seat controller.
  24. Secure the seat back elastic straps (x2) to the seat frame.
  25. Position the seat upright.
  26. Install the driver seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  27. Install the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  28. Install the driver seat into the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Install).
  29. On the touchscreen, tap Controls > Service > Driver Seat, Steering & Mirrors Calibration > START, and allow the calibration to complete.
  30. Raise all windows and close all doors.
