Harness - Seat - Driver (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open LH doors and lower the LH windows.
  2. Remove the driver seat from the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Install).
  3. Position the seat assembly upright.
  4. Remove the driver seat headrest. See Trim - Headrest - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  6. Disconnect the fan controller electrical connector from the seat harness.
  7. Disconnect the driver seat microphone electrical connector, and then release clip that attaches the harness to the driver seat back rest foam.
  8. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to seat back suspension, and then disconnect the electrical connector.

    Note
    Slide the connector away from the securing tab.
  9. Release the trim strap, and then release the trim retainers (x6) that attach the seat back trim retainers to the seat back frame.
  10. Carefully release the driver seat cover from the driver seat, and then set the cover aside for access.
  11. Push down on the tab to release the driver seat side air bag electrical connector, and then disconnect the connector.
  12. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat side airbag harness to the driver seat seat frame.
  13. Disconnect the driver seat backrest pitch motor electrical connector.
  14. Disconnect the driver seat lumbar valve pack assembly electrical connector.
  15. Disconnect the driver seat lumbar pump electrical connector.
  16. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the RH side of seat back frame.
  17. Release the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat harness from the driver seat backrest lumbar support.
  18. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the driver seat frame.
  19. With assistance, place the driver seat on a protected surface so that the underside of the seat can be accessed.
  20. Remove the screw that attaches the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  21. Carefully release the clips (x7) that attach the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly, but do not fully remove the side shield from the seat assembly.
  22. Disconnect the electrical harness from the seat switch.
  23. Release the safety lock, and then disconnect the driver seat lap pretensioner electrical connector.
  24. Release clips (x3) that attach the driver seat harness to the LH side seat track and frame.
  25. Remove the driver seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  26. Disconnect the driver seat buckle electrical connector.
  27. Release the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat harness to the RH track and frame.
  28. Release the seat back elastic straps (x2) from the seat frame.
  29. Release soft trim retainers (x2) from the driver seat frame.
  30. Disconnect the FSC vent heat pad electrical connector from the driver seat controller.
  31. Disconnect the FSB vent heat pad electrical connector from the driver seat controller.
  32. Release the clip and bracket that attach the FSC and FSB vent heat pad harnesses to the seat assembly, and then remove the harnesses from the assembly.

    Note
    One harness is for the seat cushion and the other is for the seat back. The upper bracket aids in routing while the lower clip secures them.
  33. Slide the OCS harness electrical connector upward to remove it from the SBR bracket, and then disconnect the electrical connector.
  34. Release the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the seat frame bracket.
  35. Disconnect the LH driver seat seat tilt motor electrical connector.
  36. Disconnect the driver seat left footwell LED electrical connector.
  37. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the driver seat controller electrical connector.
  38. Disconnect the driver seat height adjuster track motor electrical connector.
  39. Disconnect the driver seat seat track motor electrical connector.
  40. Disconnect the driver seat track position sensor electrical connector.
  41. Disconnect the driver seat RH footwell LED electrical connector.
  42. Release the clip that attaches the seat harness to the cushion fan.
  43. Disconnect the driver seat cushion ventilation electrical connector from the cushion fan.
  44. Release the clips (x4) that attach the driver seat harness to the cushion frame, and then remove the harness from the seat assembly.

Install

  1. Position the driver seat harness onto the driver seat cushion frame, and then secure the clips (x4) that attach the harness to the frame.
  2. Connect the driver seat cushion ventilation electrical connector to the cushion fan.
  3. Fasten the clip that attaches the seat harness to the cushion fan.
  4. Connect the driver seat track position sensor electrical connector.
  5. Connect the driver seat right footwell LED electrical connector.
  6. Connect the driver seat height adjuster motor electrical connector.
  7. Connect the driver seat track motor electrical connector.
  8. Connect the driver seat controller electrical connector, and then engage the locking tab.
  9. Connect the driver seat LH footwell LED electrical connector.
  10. Connect the driver seat seat tilt motor electrical connector.
  11. Secure clip that attaches the driver seat harness onto the seat frame bracket.
  12. Connect the OCS harness electrical connector, and then install the connector onto the SBR bracket.
  13. Secure the clip and bracket that attach the FSC and FSB vent heat pad harnesses to the seat assembly.

    One harness is for the seat cushion and the other is for the seat back. The upper bracket aids in routing while the lower clip secures them.
  14. Connect the FSB vent heat pad electrical connector from the seat controller.
  15. Connect the FSC vent heat pad electrical connector to the driver seat controller.
  16. Secure the soft trim retainers (x2) onto the driver seat frame.
  17. Secure the seat back elastic straps (x2) to the seat frame.
  18. Install the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat harness to the RH track and frame.
  19. Connect the driver seat buckle electrical connector.
  20. Install the driver seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  21. Install the driver seat harness onto the LH side seat track and frame.
  22. Connect the LH 1st row lap pretensioner electrical connector, and then secure the safety lock.
  23. Connect the electrical harness to the back rest and cushion adjust switch assembly, and then verify the functions of the seat switches.
  24. Position the driver seat outboard side shield onto the seat, and then install the clips (x7) that attach the side shield to the seat.

    TIp
    Apply pressure to the side shield to fully seat the clips. The side shield should sit flush against the seat cushion.
  25. Install the screw that attaches the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

  26. Position the seat assembly upright.
  27. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the driver seat frame.
  28. Install the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat harness from the driver seat backrest lumbar support.
  29. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the RH side of seat back frame.
  30. Connect the driver seat lumbar pump electrical connector.
  31. Connect the driver seat lumbar valve pack assembly electrical connector.
  32. Disconnect the driver seat backrest pitch motor electrical connector.
  33. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat side airbag harness to the driver seat seat frame.
  34. Connect the driver seat side air bag electrical connector, and then secure the safety lock.
  35. Carefully secure the LH side of the driver seat seat cover and foam onto the seat frame.
  36. Secure the retainers (x6), and then secure the trim strap onto the driver seat seat back frame.
  37. Secure the female side of microphone connector and harness clips (x2) onto seat back suspension.
  38. Connect the driver seat microphone, and then secure the harness clip onto the seat back foam.
  39. Slide the fan controller electrical connector downward to install it onto the bracket, and then connect the electrical connector.
  40. With assistance, align and fully secure the clips that attach the driver seat back shell to the seat assembly.
  41. Install the driver headrest trim. See Trim - Headrest - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  42. Install the driver seat into the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Install).
  43. Close LH doors and raise the LH windows.
