Glass Cleaning Supplies:
- Glass Cleaner Spray
  - 1083742-02-A - Zep glass cleaner
  - If the above part number is not available in your region, use any neutral pH Glass Cleaner like Autorenu Glass Cleaner or Seventh Generation Glass Cleaner.
- Pre-moistened Lens Wipes
  - 2249444-00-A - Zeiss Pre-moistened Clean Wipes
- Cleanroom Lint-free Dry Wipes (choose whichever is available)
  - 2268681-00-A - Tramado Wipes 500/pack
  - 2265712-00-A - Tramado Wipes 1000/pack
  - 2265813-00-A - Liso Wipes 500/pack

CAUTION

IF PERFORMING IN MOBILE SERVICE: the vehicle must be parked in a roofed or shaded area. Do not perform this procedure directly under an open sky.

Procedure

Gently lift the wiper arms away from the windshield to access the wiper blades, and then clean the wiper blades (x2) with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, especially the edge of the wiper blades.

CAUTION
If wiper blades show degradation and need to be replaced, recommend customers to replace the wiper blades to prevent reduced camera visibility performance.

CAUTION
Do not lift a wiper arm beyond its intended position.

Note
Remind customers to periodically clean the edge of the wiper blades as instructed in the Owner's Manual.
Apply glass cleaner onto a microfiber towel to clean the outside surface of the front windshield, then use a second dry microfiber towel to wipe the windshield in a circular motion until the windshield is basically dry. Verify the windshield has no stains or residue, then allow 1 minute to fully dry.
Use an LED flashlight to illuminate the outside surface of the windshield in the forward facing camera area, inspect for presence of any haze, fogginess, stains and/or residue on the inside of the windshield. Shine the flashlight towards you as shown in the images.

Note
Perform the inspection indoors.

Flashlight should be pointing at the windshield towards you, see diagram for proper inspection method.

If the presence of haze, smudges is confirmed with flashlight based inspection method, continue to the next step.

Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
Remove the lower camera cover. See Camera Cover - Lower (Remove and Replace).

CAUTION

Remove the rear view mirror. See Mirror - Rear View (Remove and Replace).

Carefully pull down on the upper camera cover to release it from the clips (x4), lower the rear view mirror harness cover, and then disconnect the electrical connectors (x3).

Remove the bolts (x2) and release the tabs (x2) that attach the glare shield assembly to the windshield, and then allow the assembly to hang from the harness.
1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)
CAUTION
An electrical harness is still attached to the glare shield

CAUTION

Note
Tilt the glare shield down and slide tabs forward.
TIp
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

Torx T10 bit

Clean the inside surface of the windshield in the forward facing camera area as follows:
1. Put on nitrile gloves.
2. Use pre-moistened clean wipes to thoroughly wipe the area. Use a plastic trim tool to help apply upward pressure and clean the crevices between the forward facing camera and windshield. See images for reference.
  
  CAUTION
  Be careful not to touch or damage the forward facing camera lens while using the trim tool.
3. Use cleanroom (dry) wipes to thoroughly wipe the area. Make sure the wipe is laid flat onto the surface to prevent glass from streaking. Use a plastic trim tool to help apply upward pressure and clean the crevices between the forward facing camera and windshield. See images for reference.
  
  CAUTION
  Be careful not to touch or damage the forward facing camera lens while using the trim tool.
4. Use the LED flashlight to inspect that the area is clean and no streaks or residue remains. Use additional cleanroom (dry) wipes to wipe the area, if necessary.
5. Use a cleanroom (dry) wipe folded into a square for a final wipe. Wiping in a sweeping motion will help to remove remaining dust on glass.
Note
Clean the entire area thoroughly, including the edges and corners.

Note
For HW4 vehicles, pay special attention to ensure the notch is also clean (see picture for notch location).

On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Camera Preview, select Main/Wide/Narrow tabs to preview all forward facing cameras and assess the visual clarity.
- If no residue or dirt is visible across all camera lenses, continue to the next step to install all components that were removed for access.
- If the image is blurry or the visuals are impeded, clean the camera lenses as needed.
Install the glare shield. See Glare Shield - Autopilot (Remove and Replace).

Install the upper camera cover. See Upper Cover - Rear View Mirror (Remove and Replace).

Install the rear view mirror. See Mirror - Rear View (Remove and Replace).

Install the lower camera cover. See Camera Cover - Lower (Remove and Replace).

Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
On the vehicle touchscreen, perform the following steps:
1. Tap Service Mode Plus > Driver Assist > Cameras > Main Pitch > Windshield clean complete, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
2. Tap Reset DAS to reset the driver assistance system. Close the routine once it is successfully completed.
  
  Note
  The Reset DAS button can either be located in the pop-up window or at the bottom of the screen.
Exit Service Mode.
Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
