                in a roofed or shaded area. Do not perform this procedure directly under an open
                sky.
Note
The following video demonstrates
                precision cleaning of the windshield for all
                    vehicles:
Procedure
- 
        Gently lift the wiper arms away from the
          windshield to access the wiper blades, and then clean the wiper blades (x2) with isopropyl
          (rubbing) alcohol, especially the edge of the wiper blades.
        CAUTIONIf wiper blades show degradation and need to be replaced, recommend customers to replace the wiper blades to prevent reduced camera visibility performance.CAUTIONDo not lift a wiper arm beyond its intended position.NoteRemind customers to periodically clean the edge of the wiper blades as instructed in the Owner's Manual.
 - Apply glass cleaner onto a microfiber towel to clean the outside surface of the front windshield, then use a second dry microfiber towel to wipe the windshield in a circular motion until the windshield is basically dry. Verify the windshield has no stains or residue, then allow 1 minute to fully dry.
 - 
          Use an LED flashlight to
                        illuminate the outside surface of the windshield in the forward facing
                        camera area, inspect for presence of any haze, fogginess, stains and/or
                        residue on the inside of the windshield. Shine the flashlight towards you as
                        shown in the images.
          NotePerform the inspection indoors.NoteFlashlight should be pointing at the windshield towards you, see diagram for proper inspection method.NoteIf the presence of haze, smudges is confirmed with flashlight based inspection method, continue to the next step.

          Remove the lower camera
                        cover. See Camera Cover - Lower (Remove and Replace).
          CAUTIONBe careful not to damage interior trim or the interior of the windshield when removing/installing components. Use only non-marring trim tools and hand tools. Do not use power tools.
 - 
          Remove the rear view mirror.
                        See Mirror - Rear View (Remove and Replace).
          CAUTIONBe careful not to damage interior trim or the interior of the windshield when removing/installing components. Use only non-marring trim tools and hand tools. Do not use power tools.
 - 
          Carefully pull down on the
                        upper camera cover to release it from the clips (x4), lower the rear view
                        mirror harness cover, and then disconnect the electrical connectors
                        (x3).
          CAUTIONBe careful not to damage interior trim or the interior of the windshield when removing/installing components. Use only non-marring trim tools and hand tools. Do not use power tools.
 - 
          Remove the bolts (x2) and
                        release the tabs (x2) that attach the glare shield assembly to the
                        windshield, and then allow the assembly to hang from the harness.

          Clean the inside surface of
                        the windshield in the forward facing camera area as follows:
          NoteClean the entire area thoroughly, including the edges and corners.NoteFor HW4 vehicles, pay special attention to ensure the notch is also clean (see picture for notch location).

          On the touchscreen, tap the
                        Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap
                            , select Main/Wide/Narrow tabs to preview all forward facing cameras
                        and assess the visual clarity.
          
- If no residue or dirt is visible across all camera lenses, continue to the next step to install all components that were removed for access.
 - If the image is blurry or the visuals are impeded, clean the camera lenses as needed.
 
 - 
          Install the glare shield.
                        See Glare Shield - Autopilot (Remove and Replace).
          CAUTIONBe careful not to damage interior trim or the interior of the windshield when removing/installing components. Use only non-marring trim tools and hand tools (no power tools) to avoid damaging the interior surface of the windshield and interior trim.
 - 
          Install the upper camera
                        cover. See Upper Cover - Rear View Mirror (Remove and Replace).
          CAUTIONBe careful not to damage interior trim or the interior of the windshield when removing/installing components. Use only non-marring trim tools and hand tools (no power tools) to avoid damaging the interior surface of the windshield and interior trim.
 - 
          Install the rear view
                        mirror. See Mirror - Rear View (Remove and Replace).
          CAUTIONBe careful not to damage interior trim or the interior of the windshield when removing/installing components. Use only non-marring trim tools and hand tools (no power tools) to avoid damaging the interior surface of the windshield and interior trim.
 - 
          Install the lower camera
                        cover. See Camera Cover - Lower (Remove and Replace).
          CAUTIONBe careful not to damage interior trim or the interior of the windshield when removing/installing components. Use only non-marring trim tools and hand tools (no power tools) to avoid damaging the interior surface of the windshield and interior trim.
 - Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
 - Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
 - 
        On the vehicle touchscreen, perform the following steps:
        
 - Exit Service Mode.
 - Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
