Power Strut - Liftgate (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open the LH rear door.
- Remove the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect the liftgate power strut inline electrical connector.
- Release the grommet from the body, and then pull the electrical harness out through the opening.
- Install a hood prop to support the liftgate.

Release the clip that attaches the
liftgate power strut to the ball stud at the liftgate side.
NoteThe liftgate power strut is located on the LH side of the vehicle.
- Release the clip that attaches the liftgate power strut to the ball stud at body side, and then remove the strut from the vehicle.
Install
- Wipe both LH liftgate strut ball studs with a clean shop cloth or rag.
- Position the liftgate power strut onto vehicle, and then insert the electrical harness into body and install the grommet.
- Connect the liftgate power strut inline electrical connector.
- Install the clip that attaches the liftgate power strut onto the ball stud at the body side.
- Install the clip that attaches the liftgate power strut onto the ball stud at liftgate side.
- Remove the hood prop.
- Install the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Cycle the power liftgate 3x to verify operation.
- Close the LH rear door.
