Knuckle - Suspension - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the LH front brake dust shield. See Shield - Dust - Brake - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the front stabilizer bar link to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then move the link aside.
    70 Nm (51.6 lbs-ft)

    Counter hold the ball joint with a 5mm hex.

    Move the stabilizer bar up/down as needed to remove the end link.

    • 15 mm socket
    • 5 mm hex
  4. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH aft link to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then release the link from the knuckle.
    180 Nm (132.7 lbs-ft)

    Counter hold the stud with a T45 socket and use a wrench to loosen the nut.

  5. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH fore link to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then release the link from the knuckle.
    180 Nm (132.7 lbs-ft)

  6. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH tie rod to the knuckle assembly, and then release the tie rod from the knuckle.
    102 Nm (75.2 lbs-ft)

    • 21 mm socket
  7. Remove the nut and bolt that attach the LH front upper control arm to the suspension assembly, and then release the control arm from the assembly.
    60 Nm (44.2 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Discard the nut after removal.

    • Torx T50 socket
  8. Remove the LH front knuckle from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the LH front suspension knuckle around the halfshaft, rest the knuckle on the fore and aft links, and then secure the assembly by inserting the bolt that attaches the knuckle to the front upper control arm.
  2. Position the LH front upper control arm to the suspension assembly, and then install the bolt and new nut that attach the control arm to the assembly.
    60 Nm (44.2 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T50 socket
  3. Position the LH tie rod to the LH front suspension knuckle assembly, and then install a new nut that attaches the tie rod to the knuckle.
    102 Nm (75.2 lbs-ft)

  4. Position the LH fore link to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then install a new nut that attaches the link to the knuckle.

  5. Position the LH aft link to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then install a new nut that attaches the link to the knuckle.
    180 Nm (132.7 lbs-ft)

  6. Position the front stabilizer bar link to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then install a new nut that attaches the link to the knuckle.
    70 Nm (51.6 lbs-ft)

  7. Install the LH front brake dust shield. See Shield - Dust - Brake - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
