Applique - Spoiler (Remove and Install)

CAUTION
For Europe only: Only technicians who have been trained in working with diisocyanates and have completed all required certification courses are permitted to perform procedures using urethane and other products containing diisocyanates. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when working with products containing diisocyanates.

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. Carefully apply masking tape around the edges of the spoiler applique and liftgate to prevent any paint damage when cutting away from lower wing assembly.

    • Masking tape
  4. Carefully insert the equalizer blade between the spoiler applique upper wing and lower wing assembly to cut through the urethane, and then remove the upper wing from the vehicle.

    Note
    Use a wedge to help separate the upper wing and allow additional clearance for the equalizer blade to access and prevent contact to the body.

    • Combi wedge
    • Equalizer 360 - 1080598-00-A
    • Equalizer blade - 1083427-00-A
  5. Use IPA wipes to clean and remove excess urethane from the spoiler applique upper wing and lower wing assembly. Allow 1 minute dry time.

Install

  1. Use harness tape to attach the CHMSL lamp harness on the spoiler applique lower wing assembly.

    Note
    Ensure the harness is routed properly on the lower wing assembly.

    • Harness tape
  2. Apply beta seal primer on the spoiler applique lower wing assembly.

    • Beta seal primer
  3. Prepare the caulking gun and urethane.

    • Caulk and adhesive gun - 1080593-00-A
    • Retractable blade knife
  4. Apply beta seal express on the spoiler applique lower wing assembly surface area.

  5. Install the spoiler applique upper wing on the lower wing assembly. Allow 1 hour dry time.

    Note
    Apply equal pressure to the upper wing during installation.

    Note
    Use masking tape if needed to hold down the upper wing, and then check gaps and fitment from side to side and front to back. Remove the masking tape after 1 hour dry time has passed if necessary.

  6. Raise the LH front window.
  7. Close the LH front door.
