Applique - Liftgate (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Apply masking tape around the liftgate applique.
  2. Use a plastic trim tool to release the clips (x6) and a badge removal kit to separate the liftgate applique from the liftgate, and then remove the applique from the liftgate.

    The double sided tape is located on each end where the applique over laps the liftgate tail lights.

    CAUTION
    Be careful not to damage the body of the vehicle.
  3. Use a thumb to roll off any remaining adhesive, and then use an IPA wipe to clean any remaining residue.

    Allow 1 minute for IPA to dry.

Install

  1. Install the applique tape onto the applique bracket and applique.

    Peel away the new adhesive film when ready to install.
  2. Using the applique clips for alignment, position the liftgate applique onto the liftgate, secure the clips (x6) that attach the applique to the liftgate, and then secure the adhesive at each end.

    Start at the center of the liftgate applique and work outwards.

    Note
    Make sure the clips are fully secured before adhering the ends of the applique.

    Note
    Use a seam roller to adhere the applique.
  3. After the liftgate applique clips are fully secured, apply masking tape to both ends of the liftgate applique, and then secure molding hold down fixtures to both ends of the liftgate applique. Allow the applique to set for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the masking tape and molding hold down fixtures from the vehicle, and then remove any remaining residue from the applique.

    Make sure the liftgate applique is thoroughly cleaned.
