Procedure
- Inspect the windshield for repair eligibility. See Lignes directrices en matière de remplacement et réparation du pare-brise et du toit de verre.
- Use IPA wipes to thoroughly clean the windshield.
-
Inspect the windshield repair
kit.
RemarqueEnsure all tools are available and free of resin residue, and then inspect the seals for cracks, wear or swelling.
-
Install the mirror on the inside of
the windshield in front of the repair area.
RemarqueApply a thin layer of gel to the suction cup of the inspection mirror. The repair area should be clearly visible in the mirror.
-
Use the scratching pen from the repair
kit to clean out any residual debris from the chip in windshield, and then use alcohol
to wash out the area without blowing or wiping.
-
With small inaccessible impact points,
the impact area should be drilled using the carbide tipped drill bit, and then use
alcohol to wash out the area without blowing or wiping.
RemarqueThe drill should be at a 90° angle to the glass. Gently drill the impact area checking regularly to ensure not to drill deeper than the drill head (approx. 1mm).ATTENTIONDO NOT penetrate the interlayer as this will damage the integrity of the windshield.
-
Mount the Fixter bridge on the
windshield.
RemarqueApply a thin layer of gel to the suction cup of the Bridge, and then place the Bridge on the outside of the windshield so that the injector head is positioned exactly over the repair area (impact point) and vertically to the windshield.
-
Adjust the stand to center the
injector over the impact point.
RemarqueUse the mirror's reflection to confirm the location. Make sure that the injector is sealed with the impact point .Do not apply too much pressure or tension which can cause cracks arising from the repair area.
-
Apply 4 - 6 drops of the UV resin into
the injector.
ATTENTIONUse latex gloves to protect your skin from the resin.
-
Screw the injector piston into the
injector cylinder until light pressure is created, then hold the injector plunger in
position for 5 minutes.
Remarque
-
Vacuum the air from the repair
area.
RemarqueLoosen the injector piston a few turns, but do not remove the piston from the cylinder. Keep the plunger in this position for 5 minutes.
-
Warm up the repair area.
RemarqueSet heat gun to 100°C, gently heat from the inside to decrease the viscosity of the resin. Heat up cycle of 10 seconds followed by a cooldown cycle of 10 sec.ATTENTIONOverheating can lead to stress cracks in the wind shield.
-
Repeat vacuum and resin injection if
needed
RemarqueMonitor inside of the seal for air bubbles. The last injection cycle should be free of air and legs of chip filled with resin.
- Remove the Fixter bridge from the windshield.
-
Clean the repair area around the
impact point.
RemarqueUse paper to clean, do not touch the impact area.
-
Apply a drop of Impact-Filler above
the point of impact and let it run into the point of impact so that no air bubbles
remain in the point of impact. Put the curing film over the impact area.
-
Apply a thin layer of gel on the
suction cubs, and then put the UV lamp over the repair area. Switch on the lamp and let
the lamp cure the resin and impact filler during 5 minutes.
- Switch off the UV lamp and remove it from the windshield.
-
Remove the curing film.
-
Use a razor blade to remove residual
hardened resin from the windshield glass.
RemarquePut the razor blade over the repair area at a 90 ° angle and carefully scrape off the excess resin.
-
Polish the repaired surface with
liquid polish and a polisher tip on the drill until the surface is clean and
smooth.
- Clean the windshield thoroughly and visually confirm the quality of the repair area.
- Remove the mirror from the inside of the windshield.
