1. Open all four doors

   

   

2. Lower all four windows

   

3. Fully open sliding glass
   Remarque

   Need to press "Open" twice to fully open

   

4. Remove bolts securing sliding glass to vehicle
   Remarque

   4x bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Discard patch bolts

   

5. Remove sliding glass from vehicle
   Remarque

   Recommend assistance

   

6. Gently lift up the rear section of the left side roof applique to release the clips and remove the left roof applique
   Remarque

   6x clips, Place applique in a safe area to avoid damage

   

7. Add a mark to the underside of the left applique to indicate that it has been removed
   Remarque

   The 2nd generation side applique can only be removed and reinstalled 10 times before it must be replaced due to damage to the clips, If there are already 9 or more marks on the underside of the applique, replace it

   

8. Move panoramic sliding glass front links fully forward
   Remarque

   Pull links forward with hooked pick

   

   

9. Moving panoramic slide glass rear links fully forward through MCU

   

   

10. Remove LH IP side cover
    Remarque

    4x clips, 1x connector

    

    

    

11. Remove LH middle A-pillar trim
    Remarque

    2x clips

    

12. Remove LH lower A-pillar trim
    Remarque

    4x clips, Number of clips securing trim may vary depending on vehicle production date, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing sill trim

    

    

    

13. Remove LH lower IP trim
    Remarque

    1x screw, T20, 2 Nm, 9x clips

    

    

    

14. Remove LH floor mat
    Remarque

    4x velcro pads

    

15. Release LH front console side panel clips
    Remarque

    7x clips

    

16. Remove LH side console closeout panel
    Remarque

    6x clips, Pull side panel back and slide closeout panel down behind side panel

    

    

    

    

    

17. Remove LH footwell cover
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2 Nm, 1x connector

    

    

18. Open hood
    Remarque

    Via Controls > Front Trunk

    

    

    

    

19. Move LH front seat backward

    

20. Power off vehicle via UI
    Remarque

    Via Controls > Safety > Power Off

    

    

21. Remove rear underhood apron
    Remarque

    8x clips

    

    

22. Remove LH underhood apron
    Remarque

    9x clips, (*Use this step for Model S Refresh procedures)

    

    

23. Remove RH underhood apron
    Remarque

    9x clips

    

    

24. Release primary and secondary drain tubes from cabin intake duct assembly
    Remarque

    2x hoses

    

    

25. Release cabin intake duct assembly from cowl panel
    Remarque

    3x push clips

    

26. Remove cabin intake duct assembly
    Remarque

    2x clips, one on each side

    

    

27. Remove HEPA filter outlet duct
    Remarque

    Lift up, Pull towards front of vehicle, Then rotate clockwise

    

    

28. Disconnect 12V negative terminal and First Responder Loop
    Remarque

    1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, 1x connector, Wait at least 2 minutes before disconnecting modules or HV components

    

29. Disconnect premium amplifier if equipped
    Remarque

    1x connector, Applies only to vehicle equipped with premium audio

    

    

30. Remove OBD II connector from tuner bracket
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm

    

    

31. Disconnect tuner and move harness for clearance
    Remarque

    3x connectors, 1x edge clip

    

    

32. Remove bolts securing tuner bracket to IP
    Remarque

    3x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 2 are accessible from bottom, 1 is accessible from front

    

    

    

    

33. Remove amp/tuner bracket assembly out through bottom of IP carrier
    Remarque

    1x tab, There's a tab on bracket that requires sliding assembly forward slightly to release

    

34. Remove bolts securing LH roof motor
    Remarque

    3x patch bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Discard after removal

    

35. Separate LH sunroof motor from motor block
    Remarque

    Use plastic trim tool as needed

    

36. Remove LH stop screw
    Remarque

    1x screw, T30, 6.5 Nm, 1x stop bracket

    

37. Remove LH rear link
    Remarque

    Pull link rearward, You may need to use a bigger hook and pull more aggressively

    

    

38. Remove LH panoramic roof drive cable
    Remarque

    Cable may get stuck where stop screw was installed, Apply good amount of force to remove

    

    

39. Install LH panoramic roof drive cable
    Remarque

    Leave enough slack to install link

    

    

40. Install LH rear link
    Remarque

    Connect cable to link

    

    

41. Install LH stop screw
    Remarque

    1x screw, T30, 6.5 Nm

    

42. Position LH sunroof motor onto motor block

    

43. Install bolts securing LH roof motor
    Remarque

    3x patch bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Install new patch bolts

    

44. Install amp/tuner bracket assembly back into IP
    Remarque

    Make sure tab is above IP otherwise there will be a large gap near bulkhead

    

45. Install bolts securing tuner bracket
    Remarque

    3x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm

    

    

    

    

46. Reconnect tuner connectors and secure edge clip
    Remarque

    2x connectors, 1x edge clip

    

    

47. Install OBD II male side to bracket
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm

    

    

48. Connect premium amplifier if equipped
    Remarque

    1x connector, Fully seat connector, then engage locking tab

    

49. Connect First Responder Loop and 12V negative terminal
    Remarque

    1x connector, 1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, Connect First Responder Loop first

    

50. Install HEPA filter outlet duct

    

    

51. Install cabin intake duct assembly
    Remarque

    2x tabs, One on each side

    

    

52. Install cabin intake duct assembly to cowl panel
    Remarque

    3x push clips

    

53. Install primary and secondary drain tubes to cabin intake duct assembly
    Remarque

    2x hoses

    

    

54. Install LH underhood apron
    Remarque

    9x clips

    

    

55. Install RH underhood apron
    Remarque

    9x clips

    

    

56. Install rear underhood apron
    Remarque

    8x clips

    

    

57. Close hood
    Remarque

    Press firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood

    

    

    

    

58. Install LH roof applique
    Remarque

    6x clips, Inspect and ensure appropriate gap and flush fitment of side appliques

    

59. Install LH footwell cover
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2 Nm, 1x connector

    

60. Install LH console closeout extension
    Remarque

    12x clips

    

61. Secure LH front console side panel clips
    Remarque

    7x clips

    

62. Install LH lower A-pillar trim
    Remarque

    4x clips, Number of clips securing A-pillar sill trim may vary depending on vehicle production date, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing sill trim

    

    

    

63. Install LH middle A-pillar trim

    

64. Install LH lower IP trim
    Remarque

    1x screw, T20, 2 Nm, 9x clips, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to installation

    

    

    

65. Install LH floor mat
    Remarque

    4x velcro pads

    

66. Install LH IP side cover
    Remarque

    4x clips, 1x connector

    

    

    

67. Move panoramic rear links into original position

    

68. Move panoramic front links into original position

    2x links

    

    

69. Place sliding glass into position on vehicle
    Remarque

70. Install bolts securing sliding glass to vehicle
    Remarque

    4x bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Install new patch bolts

    

71. Connect laptop to vehicle with a tethered Ethernet connection via Toolbox 3
    Remarque

    1x connector, 2x clips, Newer models will access connector below MCU with cubby removed, Older models will access port at LH side of IP with end cap removedOpen Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to vehicle: https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner and select Connect Locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected), Local connection will enable service mode plus on display

    

    

    

72. Select ‘Actions’ tab and search for ‘Calibrate Sunroof’

    

73. Select ‘Calibrate sunroof’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete

    Roof will fully close, then fully open

    

    

74. Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and install cubby under MCU
    Remarque

    1x connector, 2x clips, Ensure diagnostic cables are tucked into appropriate position then engage cubby

    

    

75. Operate sliding glass and verify that glass does not shudder while opening or closing

    

    

    

76. Raise all four windows

    

77. Close all four doors
