1. Raise and support vehicle
   Remarque

   Set air suspension to "Jack Mode"

   

   

2. Open LH front door
   Remarque

   Push LH B-pillar door trigger to release

   

   

3. Lower LH front window

5. Unlock vehicle gateway
   Remarque

   After vehicle has been put into "Service Mode", place keycard on center console to turn on drive rails, hold down the brake pedal, while keep pressing right hand signal button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, "GTW UNLOCKING" should pop up on the UI right next to the VIN during these 10 seconds, once gateway is unlocked "GTW UNLOCKED 5400" will be displayed on the UI next to the VIN, the gateway will remain unlocked for 90 minutes, follow steps on Toolbox article #5582900 for any additional information

   

   

   

6. Access thermal system routines using the UI

   Select quick controls > Service mode > Thermal > Actions

   Press button to release, Use manual release as necessary

   

9. Remove fastener covers from bed floor assembly
   Remarque

10. Remove bed floor assembly
    Remarque

    10x short bolts, 15mm, 56 Nm, 2x long bolts, 15mm, 46Nm, Lift front edge with trim tool then remove panel, Recommend assistance

    

    

    

    

11. Open powered front trunk
    Remarque

    Via exterior switch or UI

    

    

12. Remove rear underhood apron
    Remarque

    9x clips

    

    

13. Disconnect first responder loop and MV battery connector
    Remarque

    2x connectors, Release locking tab then disconnect FRL connector, Slide eCPA to left then lift lever to release MV battery connector, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, Release eCPA by pushing down to unlock and slide red locking tab, Wait 2 minutes for electrical circuits to discharge before disconnecting modules

    

    

    

14. Remove RH rear wheel cap
    Remarque

    1x cap, 8x clips, Use both hands to firmly pull wheel cap to release clips, Cap may remove with or without mounting ring attached

    

    

    

    

15. Remove RH rear wheel cap mounting ring
    Remarque

    7x clips, Pull away from wheel to release, If mounting ring remains attached to cap skip this step

    

16. Loosen RH rear wheel nuts
    Remarque

    6x nuts, 21mm, 205 Nm

    

17. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks
    Remarque

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side

    

    

18. Remove RH rear wheel
    Remarque

    6x nuts, 21mm, 205 Nm

    

19. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
    Remarque

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged

    

    

20. Remove rear skid plate
    Remarque

    6x clips, 3x bolts, 15mm, 42 Nm, 5x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm

    

    

    

    

    

21. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground
    Remarque

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

    

    

22. Position coolant catcher below rear drive unit

    

23. Release acoustic cover surrounding RH motor mount
    Remarque

    5x clips, if acoustic cover is present on mount, remove and discard

    

    

    

24. Remove RDU supply hose from rear inverter
    Remarque

    1x spring clip, Plug both ends after disconnecting

    

25. Position jack to support rear drive unit

    

26. Loosen RH motor mount bolt
    Remarque

    1x bolt, E18, 85 Nm, 1x NVH mass, Revision D subframe will not have NVH mass,16 mm hex bolts cannot be used on Revision D subframe, E18 bolts can be used on all subframes, If mass present then mass must be reinstalled,

    

    

27. Remove bolts securing RH motor mount assembly
    Remarque

    3x bolts, EP14, 35 Nm + 55 degrees

    

    

28. Remove RH motor mount bolt
    Remarque

    1x bolt, E18, 85 Nm, 1x NVH mass, Revision D subframe will not have NVH mass, 16 mm hex bolts cannot be used on Revision D subframe, E18 bolts can be used on all subframes, If mass present then mass must be reinstalled

    

    

    

    

29. Remove RH rear motor mount assembly from subframe
    Remarque

    Acoustic cover sits between mount and subframe,If inverter mount is 1923000-xx-B or older, then replace with 1923000-xx-C or newer

    

    

30. Position RH side motor mount
    Remarque

    Maneuver between drive unit and subframe, if acoustic cover is present on mount, remove and discard,If inverter mount is 1923000-xx-B or older, then replace with 1923000-xx-C or newer

    

    

31. Hand tighten bolts securing RH rear motor mount to inverter and subframe
    Remarque

    4x bolts, E14, 35 Nm + 55 degrees, 1x bolt, E18, 85 Nm, 1x NVH mass, Revision D subframe will not have NVH mass, If mass present then mass must be reinstalled, Torque at later step

    

    

    

    

32. Torque bolts securing RH motor mount to rear drive unit
    Remarque

    4x bolts, E14, 35 Nm + 55 degrees, Follow torque sequence

    

    

    

33. Torque RH rear motor mount to subframe
    Remarque

    1x bolt, E18, 85 Nm, 1x NVH mass, Revision D subframe will not have NVH mass,16 mm hex bolts cannot be used on Revision D subframe, E18 bolts can be used on all subframes, If mass present then mass must be reinstalled,

    

    

34. Remove jack stand from supporting rear drive unit assembly

    

35. Install rear inverter coolant supply hose to inverter
    Remarque

    1x spring clip, Remove plugs from both ends, Perform push-pull test

    

36. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
    Remarque

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged

    

    

37. Install rear skid plate
    Remarque

    6x clips, 3x bolts, 15mm, 42 Nm, 5x bolts, 13mm, 28 Nm, 2x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, Apply Loctite 222 to mid aero shield bolts and install fasteners

    

    

    

    

    

    

38. Install RH rear wheel
    Remarque

    6x nuts, 21mm, 205 Nm

    

39. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground
    Remarque

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

41. Connect first responder loop and MV battery connector
    Remarque

    2x connectors, Connect FRL connector then secure locking tab, Position lever to secure MV battery connector then slide eCPA to right, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, If power cycling vehicle then ensure at least 60 seconds has passed since powering down

    

    

    

42. Remove coolant bottle cap

    

43. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
    Remarque

    Ensure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required

45. Select "Start Coolant Air Purge" using the UI
    Remarque

    Touch time only, wait until coolant pumps stop running (audible noise), Routine Passed will appear, but pumps will run for 10 minutes, If you start next another routine during this time it will fail, Make sure vehicle is not in "Drive", Routine is still running despite the completed message, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valves between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into "Drive" will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, this indicates the pumps are air locked, perform a vacuum fill, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle

    

    

    

46. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
    Remarque

    Ensure that the fluid level is at the Max line, Top off fluid as required

    

47. Install coolant bottle cap

    

48. Perform Thermal Performance through the UI
    Remarque

    Select Thermal > Actions > Test Thermal Performance, click Run, close once routine is completed, if thermal test fails follow https://toolbox.teslamotors.com/articles/206000

50. Torque RH rear wheel nuts
    Remarque

    6x nuts, 21mm, 205 Nm, Use star pattern

    

51. Separate mounting ring from wheel cap
    Remarque

    7x clips, Gently pry clips apart with trim tool, If mounting ring remained attached to wheel skip this step

    

    

52. Install mounting ring to RH rear wheel
    Remarque

    7x clips, Ensure ring is fully seated

    

53. Install RH rear wheel cap
    Remarque

    1x cap, 8x clips, Partially secure wheel cap to wheel, While partially installed wheel cover can be rotated to align with tire design, When aligned press inward from center of cap then secure all clips to mounting ring

    

    

    

54. Install bed floor assembly
    Remarque

    10x short bolts, 15mm, 56 Nm, 2x long bolts, 15mm, 46Nm, Recommend assistance

    

    

    

    

    

55. Install fastener covers onto bed floor assembly
    Remarque

    14x covers

    

    

    

    

56. Close tailgate

    

57. Raise LH front window

    

58. Close LH front door
