Coax Cable - Side Repeater - Front - LH and RH (Remove and Replace)

Procedure

  1. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Frontstauraum (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  2. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Windlaufgitter (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  3. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim to release the seat harness. See Verkleidung – A-Säule – Unten – LH (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  4. Move the RH front seat back.
  5. Remove the RH front floor mat.
  6. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Abdeckung – Fußraum – Beifahrerseite (LHD) (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  7. Remove the RH center console side panel carpet.

    11x clips, 1x guide pin. Use a trim tool starting at the top edge to release the upper clips. Pull at the bottom to release the remaining clips.
  8. Fold the RH front cabin carpet rearwards.
  9. Remove the LH and RH front wheels. See Radbaugruppe (Aus- und Einbauen).
  10. Release the RH front wheel arch liner from the vehicle and set it aside.

  11. Disconnect the RH side repeater and camera connectors.
  12. Release the LH front wheel liner from the vehicle and set it aside.

  13. Disconnect the LH side repeater and camera connectors
  14. Remove the fresh air intake duct. See Kanal – Frischlufteinlass (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  15. Release the windshield heater connecter.
  16. Release the RH grommet from the body.
  17. Remove the electrical tape that attaches the harness bundle to the rubber dust boot.

    Use a razor blaze, carefully cut electrical tape away to expose the rubber dust boot.
  18. Remove the locking pin from the connector.

    Carefully pry the pin out of the connector and fully remove the locking pin.
  19. Remove the coax cable needed for the side repeater overlay MY terminal 1 (LHS).
  20. Remove coax cable needed for the side repeater overlay MY terminal 2 (RHS).
  21. Apply harness tape onto the LH and RH coax overlay cables before installation.

    Use anti-abrasion tape and wrap the entire length of the coax cables to protect the cables from damage when they are installed.
  22. Position the MY LH coax overlay cable into place. Put it through the LH wheel liner.

    Pull till you have roughly 30 cm (12") of cable towards the interior of the vehicle.
  23. Pull the LH coax overlay cable through the frunk harness.

    Pull harness towards car computer and grommet. Route under the steering column.
  24. Tape the coax overlay cable onto a cable puller.
  25. Push LH coax overlay cable through the bulkhead and into the interior cabin.
  26. Remove the coax cable from the cable puller.
  27. Repeat steps #GUID-EDA85235-CAA2-42B0-99E8-51216D5DE34D__GUID-12B8A2CE-7D2A-4BCF-AB1D-0C04D20B61AA to #GUID-EDA85235-CAA2-42B0-99E8-51216D5DE34D__GUID-8454D8CC-517B-4215-BC0A-51D7A8F4C181 to install the RH coax cable.
  28. Release the side repeater cameras connector X870 from the car computer.
  29. Remove the locking pin from the side repeater cameras connector.
  30. Remove the MY coax terminal 1 (LHS) cable from the connector.
  31. Insert the new side repeater coax terminal 1 (LHS) cable onto the side repeater cameras connector.

    Ensure both coax cables are fully seated into connector. Confirm audible locking and flush mounting.
  32. Remove the MY coax terminal 2 (RHS) cable from the connector.
  33. Insert new side repeater coax terminal 2 (RHS) cable onto the side repeater cameras connector.

    Note
    Ensure both coax cables are fully seated into connector. Confirm audible locking and flush mounting.
  34. Install the locking pin into the connector.
  35. Install the side repeater cameras connector X870 onto the car computer.
  36. Position the MY LH coax overlay cable onto the frunk main harness. Attach the cable onto the harness using zip ties.

    11x zip-ties. Trim off excess material after harness has been attached.
  37. Cut off the vehicle side repeater coax terminal and tape it to the vehicle harness.

    Cut the coax connector only.
  38. Connect the connectors to the LH side repeater and camera.
  39. Position the MY RH coax overlay cable onto the frunk main harness. Attach the cable onto the harness using zip ties.

    5x zip-ties. Trim off excess material after the harness has been attached.
  40. Cut off the vehicle side repeater coax terminal and tape it to the vehicle harness.

    Cut the coax connector only.
  41. Connect the front harness connectors to the RH side repeater and camera.
  42. Install the RH grommet to the body.

    Use electrical tape to wrap the end of the dust boot
  43. Install the LH and RH front wheel arch liners. See Radhausverkleidung – Vorne – LH (Nicht Strukturpack)(Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  44. Install the LH and RH front wheels. See Radbaugruppe (Aus- und Einbauen).
  45. Install the cowl screen panel and all parts that were removed for removal of the the cowl screen panel. See Windlaufgitter (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  46. Install the fresh air intake duct. See Kanal – Frischlufteinlass (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  47. Install the underhood storage unit. See Frontstauraum (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  48. Install the HEPA filter assembly.

    2x bolts, 10 mm, 5 Nm. Pivot forward edge down past the underhood storage unit, then carefully move the rear edge past the brake reservoir. Gently press on RH side of filter to seat the seal onto the duct.

    Not all Model Y vehicles are equipped with a HEPA filter.
  49. Fold the RH main carpet back in place.
  50. Install the push clip that attaches the RH front cabin carpet to the body.
  51. Install the RH center console side panel carpet.

    11x clips, 1x guide pin. Position the side panel and align the locator. Push side panel towards console to install.
  52. Install the RH footwell cover. See Abdeckung – Fußraum – Beifahrerseite (LHD) (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  53. Install the RH lower A pillar trim. See Verkleidung – A-Säule – Unten – LH (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  54. Install the RH middle A pillar trim. See Verkleidung – A-Säule – Mitte – LH (Ausbauen und Ersetzen).
  55. Install RH front floor mat.
  56. Use the touchscreen to clear the DAS calibration: touch Controls > Service > Camera Calibration > Clear Calibration .

    Verify calibration was cleared successfully. Wait for the prompt to disappear automatically before continuing. "Calibration in Progress" message and progress icon will appear during the next drive cycle.
  57. Confirm proper operation of windshield wipers and washers.
