Remove and discard the LH rear brake pad retaining pins.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear brake caliper to the knuckle.
-
Remove the brake pads from the LH rear caliper.
-
Push the pistons fully back into the LH rear brake caliper.
-
Clean the LH rear brake caliper.
RemarqueIf necessary, only use a nylon brush.
-
Remove the abutment pads (x2) from the LH rear brake caliper.
-
Clean the abutment pads area on the LH rear brake caliper.
RemarqueUse IPA wipe to clean the area, allow 1 minute dry time.
-
Install new abutment pads (x2) to the LH rear brake caliper.
RemarquePeel off the backing and install the pads with approximately 1 mm distance to the edge. Make sure the double sided tape mates onto the caliper.
-
Apply tape on the friction surface of the new rear brake pads.
-
Verify the position of the pads
RemarqueNote the position on the side of the pad. Position is described on the S/N of the floating clip-on shims of the pad and ending with "L" or "R". This step required due to removal of the floating clip-on shims in a later step
-
Drill out the rear brake pad clips.
RemarqueDrill the clips out with a 7 mm or 8 mm drill bit. Pay Attention to only drill the rivet till the head breaks free. Do not drill into the pad. Make sure to wear proper PPE.

-
Position the rear brake pads into the LH rear brake caliper.
RemarqueFold the tips of the backing. Ensure correct orientation of the pads (LH and RH). Verify correct orientation of the pads by alignment of the rivets to the piston. Do not fully press, do not apply any lubricant.
-
Install the LH rear brake pad retaining pins.
RemarqueInstall new pins. Do not apply any lubricant.
-
Install the rear brake pads to the LH rear brake caliper.
RemarquePeel off the backing. Verify that the Sticky Shim has not moved from the pads and push the pads into pistons. Verify flush attachment of the pad to the pistons (wrong pad orientation may cause contact of the rivet to the piston).
-
Install the bolts that attach the LH rear brake caliper to the LH rear knuckle.
