1. Open LH front door

   

2. Lower LH front window

   

3. Open LH falcon door, hood and liftgate
   Remarque

   Via UI > Controls > Front Trunk, Trunk, LH Falcon Door

   

   

4. Power off vehicle via UI
   Remarque

   Via center display > Controls > Safety > Power Off

   

   

5. Remove underhood aprons
   Remarque

   4x aprons, LH and RH aprons have 1x clip each

   

6. Remove frunk carpet
   Remarque

   2x connectors

   

   

7. Remove frunk assembly
   Remarque

   10x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 10x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm

   

   

   

   

8. Remove HEPA filter housing
   Remarque

   Lift up from bottom and pull out, *Note: There may or may not be a filter in housing based on vehicle configuration

   

   

9. Disconnect 12V negative terminal
   Remarque

   1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm

   

10. Disconnect first responder loop
    Remarque

    1x connector, push to release

    

11. Remove LH rear welcome plate
    Remarque

    8x clips

    

    

12. Apply tape to LH racetrack
    Remarque

    Needed to avoid damage on the racetrack

    

13. Remove front screw securing LH lower C-pillar
    Remarque

    1x screw, T25, 2.5 Nm, Discard patch bolt

    

14. Remove rear load floor

    

15. Remove LH trunk sill side trim
    Remarque

    4x clips

    

    

16. Remove RH trunk sill side trim
    Remarque

    4x clips

    

    

17. Remove trunk sill trim
    Remarque

    4x clips, 2x patch bolts, T25, 2.5 Nm, Discard patch bolts after removal

    

    

    

18. Remove trunk board

    

19. Remove trunk floor carpet

    

20. Remove rear load floor support
    Remarque

    4x push clips, 2x clips

    

21. Remove screw securing LH C-pillar mid trim
    Remarque

    1x screw, T20, 2 Nm

    

22. Release LH upper C-pillar trim panel
    Remarque

    1x patch bolt, T25, 3 Nm, 3x screws, T20, 2 Nm, Discard patch bolt after removal

    

23. Release clips and remove LH upper C-pillar trim panel
    Remarque

    6x clips

    

24. Remove load floor support from LH lower C-pillar
    Remarque

    3x tabs, 1x clip

    

25. Remove screws securing C-pillar lower panel to LH parcel shelf support
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2 Nm

    

26. Remove LH lower C-pillar from vehicle

    

27. Remove LH vent cover from trunk side carpet
    Remarque

    8x tabs

    

28. Remove clips securing the trunk side carpet to vehicle
    Remarque

    5x clips

    

29. Disconnect 12v power outlet
    Remarque

    1x connector, Pull up the tie down loop and pull the rear portion of the trunk side carpet out for access

    

30. Remove LH trunk side carpet from vehicle
    Remarque

    1x connector

    

31. Remove LH mid-zone C-pillar bracket from vehicle
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2.5 Nm, 3x push clips, 2x edge clips, Edge clips secure chargeport release cables to bracket

    

    

32. Remove LH lower zone C-pillar bracket from vehicle
    Remarque

    2x bolts, T30, 2.5 Nm, 2x push clips

    

33. Remove LH minion bracket from vehicle
    Remarque

    3x push clips

    

34. Remove charger duct
    Remarque

    Release from plastic ducts at top and bottom

    

    

35. Remove warranty label from charger cover panel if present
    Remarque

    A new replacement label will not be installed

    

36. Inspect HV insulating gloves
    Remarque

37. Put on HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves
    Remarque

    Use HV cut resistant insulated gloves or HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves, HV Insulating gloves must be worn any time a Hioki Tester or Hi-Pot Tester is used, Refer to service document TN-15-92-003 R5 for PPE requirements depending on vehicle configuration.

    

38. Remove charger access panel
    Remarque

    11x patch bolts, T20, 2 Nm, Discard after removal, Make sure to wear proper PPE

    

39. Open charger small access door
    Remarque

    2x tabs

    

40. Verify no high voltage
    Remarque

    Measure B+ to B-, B+ to ground, and B- to ground, Make sure to wear proper PPE, Verify you are using a proper ground and not a coated surface, If voltage is greater than 10V, Pack contactors are not open or welded, Stop work escalate a toolbox session for assistance

    

    

    

41. Install charger access panel
    Remarque

    11x patch bolts, T20, 2 Nm, Install new patch bolts

    

42. Remove leather over gloves and HV insulating gloves

    

43. Disconnect charge port connector from charger
    Remarque

    1x connector, Release white lock by pulling away from charger, Push down on lever and pull connector away to release 2nd stage, Use screwdriver to release 3rd stage and fully release connector

    

    

    

    

    

44. Remove HV harness from onboard charger
    Remarque

    2x bolts, 10mm, 1x connector, After removing the 10mm bolt for the HV cables, the cables are removed by pulling up. After the cable are removed it will be easier to access the 10mm bolt for the ground cable.

    

    

45. Use a dummy plug or electrical tape to plug the holes for the HV Battery cables

    

46. Remove ground strap from charger
    Remarque

    1x bolt, 10mm, 6 Nm, Discard after removal

    

47. Disconnect rear body control module and clips securing 12v harness
    Remarque

    3x screws, T25, 3.5 Nm, 4x connectors, 2x clips

    

    

48. Disconnect parking brake controller
    Remarque

    2x connectors

    

    

49. Disconnect the electrical connections from the charge port ECU
    Remarque

    3x connectors

    

50. Disconnect park assist ECU and clip securing 12v harness to bracket
    Remarque

    2x connectors, 1x barrel clip

    

    

51. Remove plastic clip securing 12v harness to coolant hose
    Remarque

    1x clip

    

52. Disconnect 12v harness and move aside for clearance
    Remarque

    7x connectors, 5x clips

    

    

    

    

53. Pull back the NVH padding to gain access to chargeport

    

    

54. Remove charge port assembly from vehicle
    Remarque

    7x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, Discard bolts after removal

    

    

    

55. Remove E-Coat from the top face of the rivnut, the busbar grounds through the BIW
    Remarque

    Clean area after rework with IPA and allow 1 minute dry time

    

    

    

56. Install new charge port assembly and updated fasteners from kit to vehicle
    Remarque

    4x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 3x bolts, T30, 6 Nm

    

    

57. Clean DC HV harness terminals and chargeport sockets
    Remarque

    Use plastic trim tool to push IPA wipe down between plastic divider, Allow 1 minute dry time

    

    

58. Apply Penetrox to backside of DC HV harness terminals
    Remarque

    Apply 2 drops of Penetrox A-13 about 5mm in diameter to either side of the hole on both leads, Spread evenly to verify the contact surface is fully covered

    

59. Install DC HV harness into new charge port assembly
    Remarque

    2x Nuts, 10mm, 9 Nm, Use nuts provided in chargeport retrofit kit (1521216-00-A)

    

    

60. Inspect HV insulating gloves
    Remarque

    Check gloves for damage prior to use, Refer to service document TN-15-92-003 R1, for information on inspecting HV gloves https://service.teslamotors.com/protected-doc/ServiceBulletins/External/TN/TN-15-92-003_High_Voltage_Awareness_Care_Points_R1.pdf

    

61. Put on HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves

    

62. Perform Hioki resistance test at each HV joint from HV busbar lead to charge port stud

    2x HV joints, The acceptable resistance is between 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ) and 0.270 mΩ (270 μΩ).If the resistance is greater than 0.270 mΩ (270 μΩ), stop work and escalate the Toolbox session.If the resistance is lower than 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), reposition the probes and measure again.If the resistance is repeatedly between 0.00 mΩ and 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), Hioki test passed, proceed to next step.

    

    

    

63. Remove leather over gloves and HV insulating gloves

    

64. Install DC HV harness inlet safety cap
    Remarque

    Ensure cap is fully seated to complete HVIL circuit

    

    

    

65. Secure DC HV harness inlet harness connector to chargeport
    Remarque

    Ensure white locking tab is engaged for connector x647

    

66. Secure AC HV harness inlet to chargeport
    Remarque

    Ensure lock is fully engaged

    

    

67. Secure AC HV harness inlet harness connector to chargeport
    Remarque

    Ensure white locking tab is engaged for connector x646

    

68. Pull back the NVH padding to gain access to the charge port ECU

    

69. Remove the chargeport ECU from vehicle
    Remarque

    1x bolt, 10 mm, 5.5 Nm, Slide the ECU down off the bracket to remove

    

70. Install new chargeport ECU from retrofit kit
    Remarque

    1x bolt, 10mm, 5.5 Nm, Slide the ECU up into bracket

    

    

71. Fold NVH padding back over chargeport ECU

    

72. Make connections at chargeport ECU
    Remarque

    3x connectors

    

    

73. Fold NVH padding back into place at chargeport

    

74. Make connections at park assist ECU
    Remarque

    2x connectors, 1x barrel clip

    

    

75. Make connections at parking brake controller
    Remarque

    2x connectors

    

    

76. Secure connections at rear body control module
    Remarque

    3x screws, T25, 3.5 Nm, 4x connectors, 2x clips

    

    

77. Make connections at 12v harness along C-pillar
    Remarque

    7x connectors

    

    

78. Secure 12v harness to body with plastic clips
    Remarque

    5x clips

    

79. Connect charge port assembly connector to charger
    Remarque

    1x connector, Make sure locking tab is secured

    

80. Install bolt securing ground strap to charger 3-phase
    Remarque

    1x bolt, 10mm, 6 Nm

    

81. Remove dummy plugs from charger

    

82. Install charge port HV harness into the charger
    Remarque

    1x bolt, 10mm, 6 Nm, Bolt has Nystay applied to retain it to HV cables but does not require replacement

    

    

83. Install HVAC charger duct

    

84. Install LH minion bracket
    Remarque

    3x clips

    

85. Install lower zone C-pillar bracket to vehicle
    Remarque

    2x bolts, T30, 2.5 Nm, 2x push clips

    

86. Install LH mid zone C-pillar bracket and install fasteners
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2.5 Nm, 3x push clips, Secure 2x edge clips for charge port release cables

    

    

87. Install LH trunk side carpet panel
    Remarque

    2x connectors, Reconnect trunk light and 12V outlet connectors before positioning panel, Use caution not to pinch rear PTC harness, See image for details

    

    

    

    

88. Install clips securing LH rear trunk side carpet panel to bracket
    Remarque

    5x push clips, One is hidden between 3rd row seat and trunk side carpet panel

    

    

89. Install LH vent cover to trunk side carpet
    Remarque

    8x tabs

    

90. Install LH trunk side load floor support
    Remarque

    3x tabs, 1x clip

    

91. Install rear load floor support
    Remarque

    4x push clips, 2x clips

    

92. Reinstall front lower carpet trim panel
    Remarque

    Secure 3rd row seat wiring harnesses to panel

    

93. Install trunk board

    

94. Install rear trunk sill trim
    Remarque

    4x clips, 2x patch bolts, T25, 2.5 Nm, Make sure to seat liftgate seal properly, Install new patch bolts

    

    

    

95. Install RH trunk sill side trim
    Remarque

    4x clips

    

96. Install lower C-pillar to vehicle along front edge
    Remarque

    9x clips, 1x magnet

    

97. Install screws securing C-pillar lower panel to LH parcel shelf support
    Remarque

    2x screws, T20, 2 Nm

    

98. Secure LH lower C-pillar trim to body
    Remarque

    1x patch screw, T25, 2.5 Nm, Install new screw

    

99. Remove masking tape from the LH lower C-pillar

    

100. Install LH welcome plate
     Remarque

     8x clips

     

     

101. Move LH and RH 2nd row seat from easy entry position to regular upright seating position
     Remarque

     Slide seat track backwards by pushing towards rear of vehicle, Fold upper seat backwards until locked in an upright position

     

102. Install trunk side nub to lower C-pillar
     Remarque

     3x tabs, 1x clip

     

103. Install LH upper C-pillar trim panel
     Remarque

     6x clips

     

     

104. Install LH upper C-pillar screws
     Remarque

     1x screw, T25, 3x screws, T20

     

105. Install LH C-pillar mid trim
     Remarque

     9x clips, Install front section first, then work around to rear

     

     

106. Install LH trunk sill side trim
     Remarque

     4x clips

     

     

107. Fold LH 3rd row seat up
     Remarque

     Press button located on LH 3rd row seat back assembly near headrest, lift seat back into an upright position

     

108. Install rear load floor

     

109. Connect the 12v power
     Remarque

     1x nut, 10mm, 10 Nm

     

110. Connect first responder loop
     Remarque

     1x connector

     

111. Install HEPA filter housing
     Remarque

     Align opening on back of housing to HEPA filter outlet duct opening, *Note: There may or may not be a filter in housing based on vehicle configuration

     

     

112. Install frunk assembly
     Remarque

     10x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 10x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm, Hand start all bolts first then tighten with tools

     

     

     

     

113. Install frunk carpet
     Remarque

     2x connectors

     

     

114. Install under hood aprons
     Remarque

     4x aprons

     

115. Close hood

     

116. Calibrate falcon doors via UI
     Remarque

     Via Controls > Calibrate, Required after 12V and FRL disconnect

     

117. Close both falcon wing doors
     Remarque

     Via Controls > Doors

     

118. Connect vehicle to WiFi connection
     Remarque

     Connect vehicle to WiFi or Tesla WiFi if available, Maintain WiFi connection for profile functions and firmware download

     

119. Place vehicle in Service Mode
     Remarque

     Enter Service mode through touchscreen. Press Car icon => Go to Software tab=> Press and hold ''Model'' for 3 seconds=>In new window type ''service'' or press voice command button on steering wheel and say ''service''=>Press ''OK'' button. Car is in service mode now

     

     

     

120. Reinstall Software from UI
     Remarque

     Select Controls > Service Mode > Software Reinstall

     

121. Request CAN ECU software reinstall
     Remarque

     Controls > Service Mode > Software Reinstall > CAN ECU > Install

     

122. Perform firmware update
     Remarque

     Controls or yellow clock installation icon > Software Update > Install now, Tap center display next to software update window until clock runs down to 0, After displayed installation time, Check center display and ensure the firmware package was successfully installed
