Remove and Clean Radiator (Heat Pump) (Maintenance)

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Enable Service Mode. See Modo de servicio (Activación y desactivación).
  3. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Puerta de enlace (Desbloquear).
  4. Run the routine using Service Mode or Toolbox: PROC_VCFRONT_X_START-THERMAL-FILL-DRAINvia Service Mode:
    • Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Start Thermal Fill/Drain
    • Thermal ➜ Coolant System ➜ Start Coolant Fill/Drain
    • Thermal ➜ Refrigerant System ➜ Start Refrigerant Fill/Drain
    via Service Mode Plus:
    • Drive Unit ➜ Front Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Start Coolant Fill/Drain
    • Drive Unit ➜ Rear Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Start Coolant Fill/Drain

  5. Raise and support the vehicle.
  6. Turn wheel fully to the right.
  7. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Unidad de almacenamiento del vano del motor (Desinstalación e instalación).
  8. Remove the front fascia. See Conjunto de defensa - Parte delantera (Desinstalación e instalación).
  9. Remove the cooling fan assembly. See Módulo - Ventilador de refrigeración (retirada y sustitución).
  10. Release the locking clips guides, and remove the 12mm radiator.
    Nota
    Do not pry on the radiator to prevent damage.
  11. Use a vacuum to clean debris from both sides of the radiator.
    Nota
    Do not damage fins of radiator.
  12. Use a blow gun to clean both sides of the radiator with compressed air.
    Nota
    Do not damage fins of radiator.
  13. Release the locking clips (x4) and remove the 21mm radiator.
    Nota
    Release one clip at a time.
  14. Use a vacuum to clean debris from both sides of the radiator.
    Nota
    Do not damage fins of radiator.
  15. Use a blow gun to clean the radiator with compressed air.
    Nota
    Do not damage fins of radiator.
  16. Secure the locking clips (x4) and install the 21mm radiator.
    Nota
    Position then secure clips.
  17. Secure the locking clips (x2) and guides (x2) to install the 12mm radiator.
    Nota
    Guide in then secure clips.
  18. Install the cooling fan assembly. See Módulo - Ventilador de refrigeración (retirada y sustitución).
  19. Install the front fascia. See Conjunto de defensa - Parte delantera (Desinstalación e instalación).
  20. Perform a cooling system vacuum refill. See Sistema de refrigeración (Llenado por vacío).
  21. Install the underhood storage unit. See Unidad de almacenamiento del vano del motor (Desinstalación e instalación).
  22. Turn steering wheel back to center.
  23. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox (Conexión y desconexión).
  24. Run the routine PROC_VC_X_RESET-RADIATOR-UA-INDEXvia Toolbox:(link)

    Perform this step for firmware versions develop/2026.14.3 and later.

  26. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
  27. Exit Service Mode Plus. See Modo Servicio Plus.
  28. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
  29. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
