Brake Caliper - Front - RH

Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle.

    Do not work on an incorrectly supported vehicle.

  2. Remove the wheel (torque 105 Nm).
  3. Release clips (x2) securing wheel speed sensor harness to brake hose.
  4. Remove nut securing brake hose to upper wishbone.
  5. Remove brake pad retaining pin R-clips.
  6. Ease caliper pistons back.
  7. Remove pad retaining pins and collect anti-rattle spring.
  8. Remove pads from caliper.
  9. Loosen brake hose in caliper (torque 22 Nm).

    CAUTION
    Do not clamp the brake hoses as they will be damaged and require replacing.

    CAUTION
    If brake fluid spills on the paintwork, wash the area immediately with clean water.
  10. Remove bolts (x2) securing caliper to upright and release caliper (torque 45 Nm).

    Note
    When installing, apply Loctite®242™ thread locking compound to bolt/screw threads.
  11. Unscrew caliper from brake hose and remove caliper. Cap hose to prevent excessive fluid loss.

    CAUTION
    Make sure that brake hose is aligned correctly with no excessive twist or bends.

    Plug pipe connections to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.

    CAUTION
    If brake fluid spills on the paintwork, wash the area immediately with clean water.

Install

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Clean and lubricate pins and pad backplates with suitable lubricant prior to installing to caliper.
  2. Bleed brakes.
