Brake Caliper - Rear - LH

Correction code 33010602

Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
    Warning

    Do not work on an incorrectly supported vehicle.

  2. Remove the wheel (torque 105 Nm).
  3. Disconnect park brake inner cable from caliper lever.
  4. Release cable rubber seal and disconnect park brake outer cable from caliper.
  5. Loosen brake hose in caliper (torque 22 Nm).
    CAUTION
    Do not clamp the brake hoses as they will be damaged and require replacing.
    CAUTION
    Make sure that brake hose is aligned correctly with no excessive twist or bends.
    Note
    Place suitable absorbent material around the affected area to absorb any possible fluid spillage.
  6. Release brake pad retaining pin from clip.
  7. Release brake hose clip from track control arm.
  8. Remove upper bolt securing caliper to upright (torque 45 Nm).
    Note
    When installing, apply Loctite®680™ retaining compound to bolt/screw threads.
  9. Remove lower bolt securing caliper to upright and release caliper (torque 25 Nm).
    Note
    When installing, apply Loctite®680™ retaining compound to bolt/screw threads.
  10. Remove pad retaining pin and collect pads and anti-rattle spring.
    Note
    Always record quantity and fitted position of shims, washers, locktabs or clips.
  11. Unscrew caliper from brake hose and remove caliper. Cap hose to prevent excess fluid loss.
    CAUTION
    Plug pipe connections to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.
    CAUTION
    If brake fluid spills on the paintwork, wash the area immediately with clean water.

Install

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Clean and lubricate pads using suitable lubricant prior to installing to new caliper.
  2. Bleed brakes.
    Warning
    Always check that brake pads are seated correctly before driving the vehicle.
  3. Check park brake adjustment.
