Brake Caliper - Rear - RH

Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle.

    Do not work on an incorrectly supported vehicle.

  2. Remove the wheel (torque 105 Nm).
  3. Release brake hose clip from track control arm.
  4. Disconnect park brake inner cable from caliper lever.
  5. Release cable rubber seal and disconnect park brake outer cable from caliper.
  6. Loosen brake hose in caliper (torque 22 Nm).

    CAUTION
    Do not clamp the brake hoses as they will be damaged and require replacing.

    Make sure that brake hose is aligned correctly with no excessive twist or bends.

    Note
    Place suitable absorbent material around the affected area to absorb any possible fluid spillage.
  7. Release brake pad retaining pin from clip.
  8. Remove bolts (x2) securing caliper to upright and release caliper (torque - upper bolt 45 Nm, lower bolt - 25 Nm).

    Note
    When installing, apply Loctite®242™ thread locking compound to bolt/screw threads.
  9. Remove pad retaining pin and collect pads and anti-rattle spring.

    Always record quantity and fitted position of shims, washers, locktabs or clips.
  10. Unscrew caliper from brake hose and remove caliper. Cap hose to prevent excess fluid loss.

    CAUTION
    Plug pipe connections to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.

    CAUTION
    If brake fluid spills on the paintwork, wash the area immediately with clean water.

Install

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Clean and lubricate pads using suitable lubricant prior to installing to new caliper.
  2. Bleed brakes.

    Always check that brake pads are seated correctly before driving the vehicle.
  3. Check park brake adjustment.
