Brake Pads - Rear - Set - Roadster 1.5

Remove

  1. Remove brake reservoir cap and place absorbent material around aperture.

    CAUTION
    If brake fluid spills on the paintwork, wash the area immediately with clean water.
  2. Raise and support vehicle.

    Do not work on an incorrectly supported vehicle.

  3. Remove the wheel (torque 105 Nm).
  4. Release brake pad retaining pins from clips.
  5. Disconnect park brake inner cables from caliper levers.
  6. Release cable rubber seals and disconnect park brake outer cables from calipers.
  7. Release clips securing brake hoses to track control arms.
  8. Remove upper bolts securing calipers to uprights (torque 45 Nm).

    Note
    When installing, apply Loctite®680™ retaining compound to bolt/screw threads.
  9. Remove lower bolts securing calipers to uprights and release calipers (torque 25 Nm).

  10. Remove pad retaining pins and collect pads and anti-rattle springs.

    Note
    Always record quantity and fitted position of shims, washers, locktabs or clips.
  11. Open bleed screw and connect bottle for waste brake fluid.
  12. Use suitable tool, turn pistons clockwise to fully retract into calipers.

    To avoid serious injury, use appropriate equipment to carry out this operation.
  13. Tighten bleed screw.
  14. Check caliper slides are free to move and seals are in good condition.

Install

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Clean and lubricate caliper slides and pads using suitable products prior to installation.
  2. Pump brake pedal at least 5 times to seat pads against brake discs.

    Always check that brake pads are seated correctly before driving the vehicle.
  3. Top-up brake fluid level as required.
  4. Check park brake adjustment.
