Remove

  1. Raise vehicle.
  2. Remove the wheel.
  3. Remove cap and inner core from valve to deflate tire.

    Check direction of tire machine rotation before starting procedure.
  5. Release the tire beading from the rim on both sides, ensuring these operations are carried out opposite the valve and sensor.

    CAUTION
    The TPMS wheel sensor may be damaged if the instructions are not followed correctly.
  6. Apply a suitable lubricant to each tire bead.
  7. Position and secure wheel on tire machine front face up.
  8. Rotate wheel and tire so the mounting head is 100 mm in front of the valve. Using a tire lever, lift tire bead on to mounting head.

    Make sure that tire bead does not slip on the rim during removal/installation.
  9. Release tire bead from wheel rim by rotating machine.
  10. Rotate wheel and tire so the mounting head is 100 mm in front of the valve. Using a tire lever with a rim protector, lift bottom tire bead on to mounting head.

    Make sure that tire bead does not slip on the rim during removal/installation.
  11. Release tire bead from wheel rim by rotating machine and remove tire. Do not remove tire lever, it will stop the tire from sliding back and damaging the sensor.
  12. Remove nut securing valve to wheel. Remove valve and wheel sensor.
  13. Remove and discard valve and screw from wheel sensor.

Install

  1. Clean and inspect wheel rim and valve hole. Remove any dirt, burrs, or fine chips or filings of metal or other material.
  2. Install valve retaining screw to the wheel sensor, make sure that the square faces are parallel with the slot in the sensor.
  3. Screw valve on to the sensor screw. Make sure that valve screw is free to move in the slot.
  4. Position sensor and valve to wheel and loosely secure with retaining nut.
  5. Holding the sensor firmly against the inside of the wheel, tighten the valve retaining nut (torque 4 Nm).

    Note
    Before the full torque is reached an internal break off ring will 'give'. Continue to tighten the nut until the full torque is achieved.
  6. Inspect the sensor location; both feet should be in contact with the wheel. If the sensor is not firmly located it should be refitted using a new valve and screw.
  7. Apply a suitable lubricant to each tire bead.
  8. Secure wheel on tire machine front face up. Position the wheel so the valve is opposite the mounting head, place the tire on the rim and bring mounting head down to rim.
  9. Push the lower tire bead over the rim and mounting head. Rotate the machine so the last part of the bead fits over the wheel just before the valve.

  10. Reposition wheel and tire so the valve is opposite the mounting head.
  11. Push the upper tire bead over the rim and mounting head. Rotate the machine so the last part of the bead fits over the wheel just before the valve.

    Make sure that tire bead does not slip on the rim during removal/installation.
  12. Make sure that the tire bead is correctly located between the sensor and the rim.
  13. Inflate the tire until both the tire beads are seated on the rim. Adjust tire pressure to recommended pressure and fit valve cap.
  14. Check tire for air leaks.
  15. Balance wheel.
  16. Install the wheel.
  17. Lower vehicle.
