Power Electronics Module (PEM) - Roadster 1.5

Correction code 39010702

Remove

  1. Raise vehicle on 2 post ramp (refer to procedure).
  2. Isolate electrical system (refer to procedure).
  3. Affix suitable tape to protect paintwork around PEM charge and battery connectors.
  4. Disconnect battery cable connector from PEM.
  5. Disconnect charge port cable connector from PEM.
  6. Remove nuts (x2) securing PEM mounts to subframe (torque 20 Nm).
  7. Remove bolt securing coolant reservoir to battery and position reservoir aside.
  8. Remove bolts (x2) securing PEM to battery mounts (torque 20 Nm).
  9. Remove bolt and disconnect ground strap from battery (torque 6 Nm).
  10. Lift and support RH side of PEM using tool 1001012 (PEM Support Block) to access connectors.
  11. Disconnect PEM logic / motor cooling fan connector.
  12. Disconnect PEM fan cooling fan connector.
  13. Disconnect motor encoder connector from PEM.
  14. Disconnect transmission control unit connector from PEM.
  15. Disconnect rear harness connector from PEM.
  16. Lift and support LH side of PEM using tool 1001012 (PEM Support Block) to access connector.
  17. Disconnect coolant heater connector from PEM.
  18. From under the vehicle, disconnect motor high voltage cable from PEM.
  19. With assistance, lift rear of PEM to clear trunk and remove from vehicle.

Install

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
