Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

VIN locations

The VIN is marked on a plate which is visible through the lowest part of the left-hand side of the windshield.

The VIN is also stamped on the vehicle chassis, visible behind the right-hand front wheel with the wheels turned to right full lock.

The VIN is also printed onto a label which is bonded to the underside of the dashboard. The vehicle paint code is also displayed on this label.

Note

The VIN (and if necessary the motor and transmission numbers) should always be quoted with any vehicle enquiries/correspondence with Tesla Motors. The vehicle license number is not considered a source of parts identification, since it may not accurately reflect the vehicle age, and may also be changed during the vehicles life.

Motor number

Stamped on a plate attached to the lower face of the transmission.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations require that a safety compliance certification label is affixed to the vehicle.

Located on the opening face of the driver door.

The vehicle paint code is printed onto a label which is bonded to the underside of the dashboard.
