Spoiler Assembly (Model YL) (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Remove the liftgate upper trim. See Trim - Upper - Liftgate (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the liftgate lower trim. See Liftgate Lower Trim (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH and RH spoiler lower side covers. See Cover - Lower Side - Liftgate - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the middle of the spoiler assembly to the liftgate.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  5. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the middle of the spoiler assembly to the liftgate.

    • 10 mm deep socket
  6. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the both sides of the spoiler assembly to the liftgate.

    • Torx T30 socket
  7. Apply masking tape to the entire upper part of the taillight.
  8. Release the clip and the tabs (x2) that attach the spoiler assembly to the liftgate assembly.

    Note
    Do not remove the spoiler too far away from the liftgate. The harness is still attached.
  9. Disconnect the center high mounted brake light electrical connector, and then remove the spoiler assembly from the liftgate.

    Do not push down on the red tab. Pull the red tab to disengage the lock, and then pull it again to release the connector.

Install

  1. Inspect the rubber gaskets on the fasteners. Replace the fastener of which the gasket is damaged.
  2. Connect the center high mounted brake light electrical connector, and engage the locking tab.
  3. Secure the clip and the tabs (x2) that attach the spoiler assembly to the liftgate assembly.
  4. Seat the seal around the edge of the spoiler.

    Ensure that the seal overlaps the upper edge of the spoiler properly without gaps.
  5. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the middle of the spoiler assembly to the liftgate.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

  6. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the middle of the spoiler assembly to the liftgate.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  7. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the both sides of the spoiler assembly to the liftgate.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

  8. Install the LH and RH spoiler lower side covers. See Cover - Lower Side - Liftgate - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the masking tape from the taillight.
  10. Install the liftgate lower trim. See Liftgate Lower Trim (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the liftgate upper trim. See Trim - Upper - Liftgate (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
