Reuse

Remove

  1. Open the LH rear door and lower the LH rear window.
  2. Move the LH 2nd row seat forward.

  3. Open the liftgate.
  4. Fold the 3rd row seatback down.

    Protect the seat back upholstery from any potential scratch or damage.
  5. Remove the LH C-pillar lower trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  6. Release the clips (x14), locator pins (x2), and tabs (x2) that attach the LH trunk side trim to the body.

    Note
    This is to aid the removal of the C-pillar upper trim.
  7. Release the clips (x10), locator pins (x4), and tabs (x2) that attach the LH C-pillar upper trim to the body, and then disconnect the seat dump switch connector and release the charging port release cable.

    Note
    Do not pull the trim too far from the vehicle, as it is still attached by the connector and charging port release cable.
  8. Remove the rear headliner panel. See Rear Headliner (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Push open the LH coat hook.
  10. Open the LH coat hook screw cover.
  11. Remove the LH coat hook screw.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • Torx T25 bit
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Wurth ¼ in hexagon 1 Nm - 5 Nm torque wrench (installation only)
  12. Release the clips (x4), tabs (x3), location pin, and tether that attach the LH rear section headliner to the body.

    Note
    Depress the tabs (x2) to release the tether from the body side.
  13. Install an inflatable air bag to support the LH rear section headliner, ensuring enough space to remove the screws.

    Take care not to over-support.
  14. Apply tape at the LH liftgate hinge location for alignment during installation, and on the rear body of the hinge to protect the paint during removal.
  15. With assistance, support the liftgate.
  16. Release the clip that attaches the upper end of the liftgate power strut to the upper liftgate lid ball stud.

    Note
    Lay the power strut down on the door jamb.
  17. Place an inflatable air bag between the liftgate and roof glass to prevent the liftgate from pressing directly against the glass and causing damage.
  18. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH liftgate hinge to the liftgate.

  19. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the LH liftgate hinge to the vehicle.

    • Socket 3/8in Dr. 6pt. Std. x 13mm
  20. With assistance, rotate the LH liftgate hinge backward, then remove it from the body.
  21. Carefully remove old spacers from the body.

    Ensure not to damage the vehicle's painted surfaces.

Install

  1. With assistance, align the new liftgate hinge onto the bolt holes and carefully rotate it forward.
  2. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the LH liftgate hinge to the vehicle.

  3. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH liftgate hinge to the liftgate.

  4. Place the inflatable air bag between the liftgate and roof glass.
  5. Install the clip that attaches the upper end of the liftgate power strut to the upper liftgate lid ball stud.

    CAUTION
    Make sure that the clips that attach the power strut ends to the trunk are securely attached to avoid the strut to become loose and damaged.
  6. Remove the liftgate support.
  7. With an assistant, perform the gap and flush measurement of the trunk assembly.

  8. Torque the bolts (x2) that attach the LH liftgate hinge to the liftgate.
    30 Nm (22.1 lbs-ft)

  9. Torque the nuts (x2) that attach the LH liftgate hinge to the vehicle.
    30 Nm (22.1 lbs-ft)

    • Socket 3/8in Dr. 6pt. Std. x 13mm
  10. Apply touch-up paint to the fasteners securing the LH liftgate hinge, shaking the paint well before use, and allowing the first coat to dry for 20 minutes before applying a second coat if needed.
  11. Remove the tape around the LH liftgate hinge.
  12. Remove the inflatable air bag from the LH rear section headliner.
  13. Align the location pin, secure the clips (x4), tabs (x3), and tether that attach the LH rear section headliner to the body.

    Ensure the tether is secured to the body and the seal covers the interior trim panel.
  14. Install the LH coat hook screw.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    • Wurth ¼ in hexagon 1 Nm - 5 Nm torque wrench (installation only)
  15. Close the LH coat hook screw cover.
  16. Push the LH coat hook closed.
  17. Install the rear headliner panel. See Rear Headliner (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  18. Connect the seat dump switch connector and install the charging port release cable, and then install the clips, locator pins, and tabs that attach the LH C-pillar upper trim to the body.

    Note
    While installing the upper trim, make sure that the air vent is properly installed.

    After installation, make sure that the seal fully covers the edge of the trim.
  19. Install the clips (x14), locator pins (x2), and tabs (x2) that attach the LH trunk side trim to the body.

    After installation, make sure that the seal fully covers the edge of the trim.
  20. Move the 3rd row seatback back to its original position.
  21. Close the liftgate.
  22. Install the LH C-pillar lower trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  23. Move the LH 2nd row seat back to its original position.
  24. Raise the LH rear window and close the LH rear door.
