Harness - Liftgate (Model YL) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the liftgate lower trim. See Liftgate Lower Trim (Remove and Replace).
  2. Fold the 3rd row seatback down.

    Note
    Protect the seat back upholstery from any potential scratch or damage.
  3. Open the RH rear door and lower the RH rear window.
  4. Remove the rear headliner. See Rear Headliner (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  5. Move the RH 2nd row seat forward.

    Adjust the seat back if needed.
  6. Remove the RH C-pillar lower trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Release the clips (x14), locator pins (x2), and tabs (x2) that attach the RH trunk side trim to the body.

    Note
    This is to aid the removal of the C-pillar upper trim.
  8. Release the clips (x10), locator pins (x4), and tabs (x3) that attach the RH C-pillar upper trim to the body.
  9. Push to open the RH coat hook.
  10. Release the tab that attaches the RH coat hook screww cover to the headliner.
  11. Remove the bolt that attaches the RH coat hook to the headliner.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
  12. Release the clips (x4), tab, locator pin and tether to release the RH rear section of the headliner to the body.

    Note
    Depress the tabs (x2) of the tether to release it.
  13. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the liftgate harness ground bolt to the body.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  14. Disconnect the liftgate harness connectors (x3).
  15. Release the RH rear liftgate grommet from the body.
  16. Disconnect the backlight glass heater positive connector.
  17. Disconnect the cinch latch connector.
  18. Disconnect the liftgate extension connectors (x2).
  19. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the RH liftgate harness ground bolt to the liftgate.

    • 10 mm socket
  20. Release the clips (x8) that attach the liftgate harness to the liftgate assembly.
  21. Release the liftgate grommet from the body, and then remove the harness from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Route the liftgate harness through the access hole, and then install the grommet to the body.
  2. Install the clips (x8) that attach the liftgate harness to the liftgate assembly.
  3. Install new bolt that attaches the RH liftgate harness ground bolt to the liftgate.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm socket
  4. Connect the liftgate extension connectors (x2).
  5. Connect the cinch latch connector.
  6. Connect the backlight glass heater positive connector.
  7. Route the liftgate harness through the access hole, and then install the grommet to the body.
  8. Connect the liftgate harness connectors (x3).
  9. Install new bolt that attaches the liftgate harness ground bolt to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  10. Install the clips (x4), tab, locator pin and tether to install the RH rear section of the headliner to the body.

    Note
    Ensure that the seal covers the interior trim panel.
  11. Install the bolt that attaches the RH coat hook to the headliner.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T25 socket
  12. Install the tab that attaches the RH coat hook screw cover to the headliner.
  13. Push to close the coat hook.
  14. Install the clips (x10), locator pins (x4), and tabs (x3) that attach the RH C-pillar upper trim to the body.

    Note
    While installing the upper trim, make sure that the air vent is properly installed.

    Note
    After installation, make sure that the seal fully covers the edge of the trim.
  15. Install the clips (x14), locator pins (x2), and tabs (x2) that attach the RH trunk side trim to the body.

    After installation, make sure that the seal fully covers the edge of the trim.
  16. Install the RH C-pillar lower trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  17. Move the RH 2nd row seat back to its original position.
  18. Install the rear headliner. See Rear Headliner (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  19. Raise the RH rear window and close the RH rear door.
  20. Install the liftgate lower trim. See Liftgate Lower Trim (Remove and Replace).
  21. Move the 3rd row seatback back to its original position.
  22. Close the liftgate.
  23. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  24. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration, select RearView in the Camera Selection field, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  25. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  26. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
