Shaft - Recliner - 3rd Row (Model YL) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the LH seat back assembly. See Shell - Seat Back - 3rd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    No need to separate the shell from the seat back, just remove the whole seat back as an assembly.
  2. Remove the 3rd row center inner B-cover. See B-Cover - Center Inner - 3rd Row (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the 3rd row LH inner B-cover. See B-Cover - Inner - 3rd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  4. Apply protective tape to the lower left corner of the 3rd row RH seat back.
  5. Remove and discard the inner bolts (x2) that attach the 3rd row LH seat back frame to the frame assembly.

  6. Remove and discard the outer nuts (x2) that attach the 3rd row LH seat back frame to the frame assembly.

  7. With assistance, release the location tab and remove the 3rd row LH seat back frame from the frame assembly.
  8. Use a diagonal cutter to cut the push nut, and then remove and discard it from the recliner shaft.
  9. Slide the recliner shaft out from the seat back frame.

Install

  1. Align the recliner shaft to the holes on the seat back frame, and insert it to position.
  2. Install a new push nut (1948907-00-A) to the recliner shaft, then place a 12 mm socket over it and use a ball peen hammer to set it into position.
  3. With assistance, secure the location tab to the location hole to install the 3rd row LH seat back frame to the frame assembly.

    Note
    Ensure that both LH and RH seat backs are properly positioned in their installation locations. Otherwise, when the assembly is installed onto the vehicle body, the fastening bolts need to be loosen to re-adjust the position.
  4. Install new outer nuts (x2) that attach the 3rd row LH seat back frame to the frame assembly.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)

  5. Install new inner bolts (x2) that attach the 3rd row LH seat back frame to the frame assembly.
    40 Nm (29.5 lbs-ft)

  6. Remove the tape from the lower left corner of the 3rd row RH seat back.
  7. Install the 3rd row LH inner B-cover. See B-Cover - Inner - 3rd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the 3rd row center inner B-cover. See B-Cover - Center Inner - 3rd Row (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH seat back assembly. See Shell - Seat Back - 3rd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
