1. Raise and support vehicle

   

   

   

2. Open LH front door
3. Lower LH front window
4. Open hood
   注

   Press "Open" button on touchscreen to release latch, Lift lid manually

   

5. Remove rear apron
   注

   12x clips, Only store rear apron visible face upwards

   

   

   

6. Remove cabin intake upper duct assembly
   注

   3x clips, Some configurations may come with 4x clips

   

   

7. Power off vehicle from center display
   注

   Via Controls > Safety > Power Off, Select Power Off button at warning dialogue box

   

   

8. Disconnect 12V negative terminal
   注

   1x nut, 10mm, 6 Nm, Ensure vehicle is in park, climate control system is off, and vehicle is not charging before disconnecting 12V

   

9. Disconnect first responder loop
   注

   1x connector, Release locking tab

   

10. Close LH front door
11. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
    注

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side, Verify doors are clear of surrounding objects

    

    

12. Remove mid aero shield
    注

    13x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

    

13. Release clips securing coolant hoses to LH shear plate
    注

    2x fir tree clips

    

14. Release LH side hose clip from rear battery skid plate enclosure
    注

    2x clips, Clip quantity may vary on older vehicles

    

15. Release RH side hose clips from rear battery skid plate enclosure
    注

    2x fir tree clips

    

16. Release clips securing coolant hoses to RH shear plate
    注

    2x fir tree clips

    

17. Remove lower bolts securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure
    注

    2x bolts, EP10, 13 Nm, Older vins may be equipped with additional fastener count

    

18. Remove upper nut securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 13 Nm, Fastener count may vary on older built vehicles

    

19. Remove upper bolts securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure
    注

    4x bolts, 13mm, 35 Nm

    

20. Remove HV battery rear skid plate enclosure

    

21. Position coolant drain container underneath RH rear of vehicle

    

22. Disconnect RDU outlet hose from PT return tube and plug both hose ends
    注

    1x spring clip, 2x plugs, Lower hose located at RH rear of HV battery, Use shop towel to clean any residue coolant if necessary, Coolant loss greater than 1 L will require vacuum fill

    

    

23. Release coolant outlet hose from RDU heat exchanger
    注

    1x spring clip

    

24. Release coolant outlet hose clip from RDU heat exchanger
    注

    1x clip

    

25. Remove the outlet hose clips from RDU assembly
    注

    3x clips

    

    

    

    

26. Remove RDU outlet hose from RDU assembly
    注

    Gently wiggle hose out from the subframe

    

    

27. Install RDU outlet hose to RDU assembly
    注

    Gently install the hose to the subframe

    

    

28. Install RDU outlet hose to RDU heat exchanger
    注

    2x clips, 1x Plug, Remove plug from heat exchanger, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully engaged, Clean excess coolant from area

    

29. Secure RDU outlet hose onto RDU assembly
    注

    3x fir tree clips. Reach into the gap between the subframe and the RDU by hand or with a long screwdriver

    

    

    

    

30. Remove hose plugs and connect RDU outlet hose to PT return tube
    注

    1x spring clip, 2x plugs, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully engaged, Use shop towel to clean any coolant residue if necessary, Loss of coolant greater than 1L requires coolant vacuum fill

    

    

31. Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle

    

32. Position HV battery rear skid plate enclosure onto HV battery for installation
    注

    Recommend assistance if needed

    

33. Install upper bolts securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure hand tight
    注

    4x bolts, 13mm, 35 Nm, Torque at later step

    

34. Install upper nut securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure hand tight
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 13 Nm, Torque at later step

    

35. Install lower bolts securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure
    注

    2x bolts, EP10, 13 Nm, Earlier vins may be equipped with additional bolts

    

36. Torque bolts securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure to vehicle
    注

    4x bolts, 13mm, 35 Nm

    

37. Torque upper nut securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 13 Nm

    

38. Install clips securing coolant hoses to RH shear plate
    注

    2x fir tree clips

    

39. Install RH side hose clips to HV battery rear skid plate enclosure
    注

    2x fir tree clips

    

40. Install LH side hose clip to HV battery rear skid plate enclosure
    注

    2x clips, Clip quantity may vary on older vehicles

    

41. Install clips securing coolant hoses to LH shear plate
    注

    2x fir tree clips

    

42. Apply Loctite 222 onto mid aero shield bolts and install mid aero shield
    注

    13x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

    

    

43. Lower vehicle until tires are touching ground
    注

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

    

    

    

44. Remove coolant bottle cap

    

45. Connect first responder loop
    注

    1x connector, Engage locking tab, Connect FRL before connecting 12V to avoid damage to car computer

    

46. Connect 12V negative terminal
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 6 Nm

    

47. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3.0
    注

    Vehicle connection is integrated into drivers footwell cover, Open Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to the vehicle, https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner, and select connect locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected)If RJ45 ethernet diagnostic connector present connect directly from laptop using an RJ45 Ethernet cable

    

    

    

48. Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ tab and search for ‘Purge'

    

49. Select ‘TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGESearch for routine in ToolboxCoolant Air PurgeLow Voltage Controllers Low Voltage ControllersThermal / Actions - Coolant Air PurgeThermal / Coolant System - Coolant Air Purgehv / Procedures - ’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete

    Make sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valve between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, that means the pumps are air locked, perform vacuum fill again, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete

    

    

    

50. Remove HSD or RJ45 cable from Ethernet port to disconnect Toolbox 3.0 from vehicle
51. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary

    Ensure that fluid level is at Max line

    

52. Install coolant bottle cap

    

53. Install cabin intake upper duct assembly
    注

    3x clips, Some configurations may come with 4x clips

    

    

54. Install rear apron
    注

    12x clips

    

    

55. Close hood
56. Remove vehicle from lift
    注

    Lower rack arms fully and remove from under vehicle
