1. Raise and support vehicle
   注

   Ensure vehicle is not charging

   

   

   

2. Open LH front door

   

3. Lower LH front window

   

4. Open hood

   

   

5. Remove rear underhood apron

10. Power off vehicle from center display
    注

    Via Controls > Safety > Power Off, Select Power Off button at warning dialogue box

    

    

11. Disconnect LV battery and first responder loop
    注

    2x connectors, Ensure that one minute has passed after window movement before performing the power-off, Release green locking tab, Press black tab then pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Release red lock tab on FRL, Allow 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge

    

    

    

    

12. Remove fresh air gutter assembly
    注

    3x clips

    

    

13. Remove access panel from frunk assembly
    注

    3x clips, 1x connector, 3x guide tabs, Frunk safety switch, Grasp access panel at top and pull it back to release clips, Disconnect switch

    

    

14. Release frunk service panel
    注

    3x clips, Pull towards front of vehicle to release, if equipped

    

15. Remove bolts securing frunk assembly from body
    注

    4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

    

16. Remove frunk assembly from vehicle
    注

    8x clips, 3x location pins, Replace any clips if broken or missing

    

    

17. Remove ambient temperature sensor cover from active grille shutter

    

    

18. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector
    注

    1x connector

    

19. Disconnect active grille shutter actuator connector
    注

    1x connector, Do not push down on red tab, Pull red tab to disengage lock, Pull again to release connector

    

20. Remove bolts securing frunk reinforcement assembly
    注

    2x bolts, 10mm, 16 Nm

    

    

21. Remove frunk reinforcement from cooling fan module assembly
    注

    Slide the frunk reinforcement towards rear of vehicle

    

22. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
    注

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged

    

    

23. Remove bolts securing front aero shield
    注

    7x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

    

24. Remove front aero shield from studs
    注

    2x nuts, 15mm, 5 Nm

    

    

25. Remove clips securing LH front wheel liner to lower valance
    注

    3x push clips

    

26. Remove nut securing lower valance to LH side of inner fascia
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 3 Nm

    

27. Remove clips securing RH front wheel liner to lower valance
    注

    3x push clips

    

28. Remove nut securing lower valance to RH side of inner fascia
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 3 Nm

    

29. Release super horn harness
    注

    1x connector, 1x clip, Pull tab to disengage lock, then release connector, Speaker is located behind RH wheel liner, Connector access may vary depending on revision

    

    

30. Remove bolts securing front valance to front fascia and remove front valance
    注

    8x bolts, T40, 3 Nm, Newer vehicles are equipped with 6x bolts, T40, 3 Nm, and 2x bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm

    

    

    

31. Place coolant drain container below LH front of vehicle

    

32. Disconnect radiator inlet hose
    注

    1x spring clip, Plug hose and radiator

    

    

33. Place coolant drain container below RH front of vehicle

    

34. Disconnect radiator outlet hose
    注

    1x spring clip, Plug hose and radiator

    

    

35. Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle

    

36. Disconnect cooling fan module connector
    注

    1x connector, Disconnect this after coolant hose is capped to avoid coolant damaging connector

    

37. Remove LH bolt securing bottom of condenser fan module to ankle catcher
    注

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Hold condenser fan module to ease removal of bolt

    

38. Remove RH bolt securing bottom of condenser fan module to ankle catcher
    注

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Hold condenser fan module to ease removal of bolt

    

39. Remove cooling fan module assembly from vehicle
    注

    Recommend assistance

    

    

40. Remove active grill shutter assembly
    注

    14x locking tabs, Release locking tabs securing active grill shutter to cooling fan and shroud assembly

    

    

    

    

41. Remove radiator from cooling fan module assembly
    注

    2x locking tab, 2x holding mount, Release upper and lower locking tabs securing radiator to cooling fan and shroud assembly then draw out from holding mount, If new radiator assembly is found without stone guard follow Stand Alone procedure 18302500402If found with stone guard follow Stand Alone procedure

    

    

    

42. Remove thermal foam liner
    注

    3x foam strips

    

43. Remove stone guard
    注

    2x clips, 2x datums

    

    

44. Clean debris from radiator
    注

    Vacuum both sides of radiator, Do not damage fins of radiator

    

    

45. Clean radiator with compressed air
    注

    Clean both sides of radiator with compressed air, Do not damage fins of radiator

    

    

    

46. Install stone guard
    注

    2x clips, 2x datums

    

    

47. Install thermal foam liner
    注

    3x foam strips

    

    

48. Install radiator to cooling fan module assembly
    注

    2x locking tab, 2x holding mount, Draw in holding mount then install upper and lower locking tabs securing radiator to cooling fan and shroud assembly

    

    

    

49. Install active grill shutter assembly
    注

    14x locking tabs

    

    

    

    

50. Install cooling fan module assembly into vehicle
    注

    2x bolts, 8mm, 10 Nm, Recommend assistance to support the cooling fan module assembly and hand-tighten install LH and RH bolts, Torque at later step

    

    

    

51. Install RH bolt securing bottom of condenser fan module to ankle catcher
    注

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Gently lift condenser fan module to position into place and install bolt

    

52. Install LH bolt securing bottom of condenser fan module to ankle catcher
    注

    1x bolt, 8mm, 10 Nm, Gently lift condenser fan module to position into place and install bolt

    

53. Position coolant drain container below RH front of vehicle

    

54. Install radiator outlet hose
    注

    1x spring clip, Remove plugs from both ends of the coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated

    

    

55. Position coolant drain container below LH front of vehicle

    

56. Install radiator inlet hose
    注

    1x spring clip, Remove plugs from both ends of the coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated

    

    

57. Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle

    

58. Connect cooling fan module connector
    注

    1x connector

    

59. Position front valance to front fascia and install bolts securing front valance to front fascia
    注

    8x bolts, T40, 3 Nm, Newer vehicles are equipped with 6x bolts, T40, 3 Nm and 2x bolts, 10mm, 3 Nm

    

    

    

60. Secure super horn harness
    注

    1x connector, 1x clip, Engage locking tab

    

    

61. Install nut securing lower valance to LH side of inner fascia
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 3 Nm

    

62. Install clips securing LH front wheel liner to lower valance
    注

    3x push clips

    

63. Install nut securing lower valance to RH side of inner fascia
    注

    1x nut, 10mm, 3 Nm

    

64. Install clips securing RH front wheel liner to lower valance
    注

    3x push clips

    

65. Position front aero shield onto vehicle and secure with two nuts
    注

    2x nuts, 15mm, 5 Nm, Hand-tighten the nuts to temporarily hold the panel in place then torque to specification

    

    

66. Install front aero shield bolts
    注

    7x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, Apply Loctite 222 onto bolts before installing

    

    

67. Lower vehicle fully
    注

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

    

    

    

68. Install frunk reinforcement onto cooling fan module assembly
    注

    Position CFM mounts onto tabs on CFM

    

69. Install bolts securing frunk reinforcement
    注

    2x bolts, 10mm, 16 Nm

    

70. Connect ambient temperature sensor connector
    注

    1x connector

    

71. Install ambient temperature sensor cover to active grille shutter

    

    

72. Connect active grille shutter actuator connector
    注

    1x connector, Engage locking tab

    

73. Remove coolant bottle cap
    注

    (*Use this step for Model 3 Heat pump vehicles)

    

    

74. Place empty coolant container into front storage area

    

75. Fill container with coolant
    注

    Do not draw in air during fill process, For RWD, The entire system requires coolant is 15L, for AWD, The entire system requires coolant is 18L

    

76. Place filled coolant container into front storage area

    

77. Place refill hose inside filled coolant container
    注

    Make sure hose end is fully submerged into coolant

    

    

78. Install coolant reservoir adapter cap onto coolant bottle assembly
    注

    (*Use step for Model 3 with Heat Pump & NV35) 1x adapter cap, Adapter found in Vacuum Refill kit, turn clockwise to tighten cap onto coolant bottle

    

    

    

79. Setup vacuum refill tool
    注

    Verify all valves on refill tool are in the closed position, See image for clarity

    

    

80. Connect vacuum refill hose to refill cap on coolant bottle
    注

    Perform push-pull-push test to verify hose is fully engaged (*Use this step for Model 3 Heat Pump vehicles)

    

    

81. Position overflow hose into empty container

    

82. Connect shop air supply to coolant refill tool
    注

    If not already done, Verify refill valve is set to off

    

83. Open air inlet valve to draw a vacuum, Once gauge stabilizes, Fully close valve
    注

    Gauge stabilizes roughly (60-70 cmHg), Vacuum should not drop after the valves are closed

    

    

84. Monitor gauge for 30 seconds to verify vacuum is maintained in cooling system
    注

    If vacuum is not maintained there may be a leak in the cooling system, Verify no loose connections or fittings on vacuum refill tool causing vacuum leak

    

    

85. Slowly open coolant refill valve to allow coolant to be drawn into coolant refill hose, Close valve when hose is full of coolant
    注

    This purges trapped air from the hose

    

86. Once gauge reads zero, close refill valve

    

    

87. Disconnect shop air supply from coolant refill tool

    

88. Remove coolant refill hose from coolant container

    

89. Remove coolant overflow hose from coolant container

    

90. Disconnect vacuum refill hose from refill cap on coolant bottle
    注

    (*Use this step for Model 3 Heat Pump procedures)

    

91. Remove coolant refill tool from vehicle

    

    

92. Remove both coolant containers from underhood area
    注

    (*Use this step for NV35 vehicles)

    

93. Connect first responder loop and LV battery
    注

    2x connectors, Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated

104. Install frunk service panel

     3x clips, Push towards rear of vehicle to secure, if equipped

     

105. Install access panel to frunk assembly
     注

     3x clips, 1x connector, Frunk safety switch, 3x guide tabs, Align 3x tabs then push forward to secure clips

     

     

106. Install fresh air gutter assembly
     注

     3x clips

     

     

107. Install rear underhood apron
     注

     14x clips, Hold rear wall of frunk to keep from flexing while engaging front clips

     

     

108. Close hood

     

109. Raise LH front window

     

110. Close LH front door

     

111. Remove lift arms from below vehicle
     注

     Lower rack arms fully and remove them from under vehicle
