Sill Flange Repair Guidelines

Explains how to determine if the flange of the Sill Inner or Sill Outer can be repaired or if replacement is required.

The image below shows the flange of the sill assembly, and contains highlighted areas. Compare the damaged area of the vehicle's sill flanges to the image below, then use the repair criteria corresponding to the color of the highlighted area to find the criteria to use to determine if the damaged area of the component can be repaired.

Based on the colors used in the image above, the allowed repairs are as follows:

Green areas:

Sections bent less than 45 degrees (45°) may be straightened using cold methods only.

Note
Repair only if:
  • No cracks or tears are present.
  • Joints and/or welds on the flange are not damaged and are in good condition.
  • All other areas of the component are in good condition. If other areas of the component are bent or damaged, the component must be replaced.
