If replacing the LH component: If the LH tail light on the vehicle is Tesla part number 1077397-00 revision F (or earlier), also replace the LH tail light with Tesla part number 1077397-00 revision G (or later).

Repair Procedure

  1. Left-hand component only: Remove the Charge Port Housing Assembly.
  2. Remove the original component.

  3. Prepare for installation.

  4. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  5. Install the new component or components.
  6. Perform resistance spot welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  7. Perform GMA welding.
