Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Wheel Arch Liner - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the Cover - Rocker Panel - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the Glass - Body - Rear Quarter - LH (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the Striker - Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the Bracket - Rear Wing - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the Air Extractor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the Bumper Beam - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the Power Trunk (Remove and Install).
  11. Remove the Hinge - Power Trunk - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the Glass - Backlight (Heat Pump) (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the Headliner (Heat Pump) (Remove and Install).
  14. Remove the Glass - Roof - Fixed (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the Busbars - Charge Port to HV Battery (NACS) (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the Door Assembly - Charge Port (Busbar Type) (EMEA) (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove the Reflex Lens - Rear - RH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Remove the ECU - Charge Port (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the Subwoofer (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the Carpet - Rear Trunk (1-Piece) (Remove and Replace).
  21. Remove the Seatbelt - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  22. Remove the Sensor - Impact Accelerometer - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the Airbag - Curtain - LH (Remove and Replace).
  24. Remove the necessary portion of the Body Side Outer to expose the underlying component being replaced.
  25. Remove the C–Pillar Reinforcement.
  26. Remove the Rear Wheelhouse Reinforcement.
  27. Remove the original component.

  28. Prepare for installation.

  29. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  30. Install the new component or components.
  31. Perform GMA welding.

    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure).     Before GMA welding, a test weld using material of the same gauge and type should be performed to make sure that the welding equipment settings produce a satisfactory joint.
  32. Install the Rear Wheelhouse Reinforcement.
  33. Install the C–Pillar Reinforcement.
  34. Install the necessary portion of the Body Side Outer that was removed to expose the component being replaced.
  35. Install the fasteners as indicated.

  36. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
  37. Install the Airbag - Curtain - LH (Remove and Replace).

  50. Install the Power Trunk (Remove and Install).
  51. Install the Bumper Beam - Rear (Remove and Replace).
