Retractor - Seatbelt - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Note
In the event of an airbag or seat belt tensioner deployment, certain airbag and seat belt components must be replaced, and other components must be inspected for damage. Refer to SRS Inspection and Component Replacement for a specific list of items that must be inspected and replaced.
Removal
- Open all doors and the hood.
- Remove the LH welcome plate. See Welcome Plate - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH rear sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH front lower sill panel. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH lower B-pillar trim panel. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH upper B-pillar trim panel. See Trim - B-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).

Use a trim tool to remove the cap that covers the pretensioner.

Remove the bolt (1004383-00-C) and inboard upper pretensioner cover, release the
seatbelt from the pretensioner and remove from the B-pillar.
Note9 Nm. Discard the bolt after removal.NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Disconnect the electrical connectors from the seatbelt reel.

Remove the bolt that secures the
seatbelt reel to the body (torque 40 Nm).
NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- 13 mm socket

Remove the screws (x2) that secure the seatbelt webbing guide to the B-pillar (torque 2.4 Nm).
NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T25 socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Remove the nut that secures the upper seatbelt mount to the body of the vehicle (torque 25 Nm).
NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- 17 mm socket
- Remove the seatbelt assembly from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
CAUTION
Replace any broken clips.
CAUTION
Replace all patchbolt(s).
If the component was
replaced due to an internal failure:
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
- Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
- In Toolbox 3, click , and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
- Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
- Power cycle the vehicle.
- Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
- Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
