Hinge - Door - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and fully lower the LH front window.
  2. Apply masking tape to the area surrounding the LH rear door upper hinge on the body and door to aid in alignment during installation.
  3. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear door upper hinge to the body.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13mm swivel ball socket
  4. Remove the bolt or nut that attaches the LH rear door upper hinge to the door.
    49 Nm (36.1 lbs-ft)
    49 Nm (36.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension

  5. Carefully remove the LH rear door upper hinge from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Use the alignment tape to position the LH rear door upper hinge onto the body, and then hand tighten the bolts that attach the hinge to the body.
  2. Use the alignment tape to position the LH rear door upper hinge onto the door, and then hand tighten the bolt or nut that attaches the hinge to the door.

  3. Close the LH front door and check for gap and flushness. Adjust as necessary.
  4. Tighten the bolt or nut that attaches the LH rear door upper hinge to the door.
    49 Nm (36.1 lbs-ft)
    49 Nm (36.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
  5. Tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear door upper hinge to the body.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13mm swivel ball socket
  6. Remove the masking tape from the door and body.
  7. Apply touch up paint on the LH rear door hinge bolts as needed.
    Note
    Shake the touch up paint before applying. Allow the first coat to dry for 20 minutes before applying and second coat.
  8. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
